...well, on the bright side, he may roll over in the middle of the night, suffocate in his pillow, and stop being Tempest's problem. Taking the bowl and glass, Tempest went to refill both of them, listening to Elwyn as he did so. Coming back and offering them, he decided to let the nickname pass for the time being because he was obviously in an addled condition and continuing to correct him in this situation felt cruel, at best. As did his thought of suffocation. But that was another matter entirely. "Though we are part of Ilusia in Meridell, our loyalty has always been with the elven royalty in Avalon," he said as he sat on the edge of the bed again. "As such, I am essentially the mayor of Meridell. I ensure that the town runs smoothly according to their Majesties' wishes, generally by making trips to Avalon once a season to deliver news of the town and bring back any new directives. It is a job that I have held since I was sixty or so." It was amazing how time started to run together when you had lived for over a hundred years. "Generally, however, it is simply ensuring that people here are following the laws that have been set down. You should feel honored, however. We do not frequently permit humans to stay the night in Meridell without an extensive check."★ elwyn summers ★ euthanizing elwyn would be completely humane

"If you feel like giving me a thorough investigation, do so whenever you want. My safe word is 'apples.'" Elwyn wiggled his eyebrows over the top of the bowl that he brought close to his mouth, his lips curving up into another one of his smiles. It was a particular smile that left room for no doubt on what he was implying, but considering his state, Tempest's virtue and purity would remain intact for another few nights, at least. Mmm, he was hot, though, so how long would remain a question. Pinning the fae against a wall and having his way with him wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Nothing said 'thanks for saving my life' like making another person see stars dance in front of their eyes. Little lessons like that were important to remember. "The entire thing about going to Avalon sounds like it would be a lot of work. I haven't been there too much, so I can't say a lot, but from what I've seen it's all forests, all the time, and too many tree huggers." How many people could he insult in a single breath? Time to find out. "It might be because I'm not one of those people who feels a huge connection to the land. I'd much rather see some more advances in technology out here like Heim has."★ tempest riveria ★ he'd be okay with that because he already got to spend the night in tempest's bed ;D

Tempest's eyebrows furrowed a bit, both at Elwyn's clear implications in his first statement and his assumption about Avalon. Well, he wasn't an elf or a faerie, so he supposed he couldn't take too much offense to it. As it was, he simply said, "Being human as you are, I suppose it would be difficult for you to understand such a thing." He shook his head, sighing a little. "And we are content with Heim's technology staying in Heim. It is fitting for their purposes, but ill-suited for ours." Taking the bowl and cup from Elwyn and putting it to the side, Tempest leaned forward to check the other man's bandages. Sighing, he said, "These will need to be changed regularly for the next day or two. If you can remain sitting up, I will change them now. Afterwards, it would be advisable for you to get some more rest. Tomorrow, depending on how you feel, you may want to try walking a bit. The salve should help speed the healing process."
At least he'd had the foresight to bring the first aid kit into Elwyn's room. ...he was probably going to need more bandages after this. ★ elwyn summers ★ this arrangement is already getting creepy, stop it :|

"Fine, fine. I'll get some rest and be up on my feet tomorrow. Just you wait and see!" Would he be? Good heavens, no, not for a long period of time. Did he want to do his damn best to make breakfast? Exactly that. He'd work through the pain and whip up a delicious round of his hoecakes. The secret was all in adding some maple syrup to the batter first and frying it in bacon grease instead of oil. "Feel free to come join me tonight. Plenty of room in this bed." Leaving the invitation open didn't hurt anything. Elwyn rolled over onto his side and stretched his legs out as far as he could. The cracking sound that his sore body made went ignored because oh god sudden pain everywhere fuck. The next day came and he milked it. The day after that and the day after that... well, he was pretty sure Tempest already knew he could walk decently by the way he started to do push ups and sit ups by the third day, but playing the sympathy card didn't hurt. On the morning of the sixth day, those hoecakes of his finally got made. Elwyn whistled as he cooked, flipping things with the pan can and catching them with ease. "So I was thinking that it would be a good idea for me to go out today and look around some. If I'm going to be your roommate, I'd feel bad for not contributing at all, unless I can get away with being eye candy."★ tempest riveria ★ you know you like it c<

He could probably throw him out. He had magic and he was almost positive that Elwyn didn't. Of course, Elwyn was getting his strength back and any fool could tell that he was physically stronger than Tempest, if for nothing else but the slight difference in their size and the fact that Tempest was a faerie and prone to physical weakness for that reason. Still, he hadn't thrown Elwyn out. Why? ...well, frankly, it was easier that way. Honestly, he hadn't expected to find Elwyn in his kitchen nearly a week after he had first brought him in. Letting him handle the food, he had begun making tea for the both of them (or for himself with extra in case Elwyn decided he wanted some). "Looking around Meridell would probably serve you well," he said, ignoring the eye candy comment entirely. Of course, he had gotten in the habit of ignoring all of those little, harmless phrases and gestures from the other male living under his roof. No sense in spending any time thinking too hard about it. "There are people who know that you are currently residing in my home, so though you are human you should not meet with a great deal of resistance. As long as you remain courteous, of course," he said, carefully punctuating that word as he sat down with his tea. "Is there any particular field you are trained in?"★ elwyn summers ★ oh my god elwyn you've been here for two years get off my couch and stop drinking all the beer

"Courteous? You say that as if I have been anything less than a charming, well-mannered guest. I am offended that you would paint me in such villainy colors, Temtem." Oh yeah, not a surprise that nickname stuck. If anyone else called the faerie that... honestly, he'd probably punch that person in the face. Only he could call him 'Temtem' and that was just that. Damn. Now he wanted someone to try. It'd been too long since he got to punch someone in the face and not get yelled at for it. ...okay, maybe he'd still get yelled at for it. Details, details. "I'm good at a lot of stuff, but not particularly good at any one thing, if that makes sense. Unless you're talking about- no, no you wouldn't be." Biting back a snicker, Elwyn slipped the hoecakes on a plate and brought them, along with some bacon, over to the table. Maple syrup too, naturally. Gotta make it all taste heavenly in the end. That's why he poured Tempest's syrup on for him. Letting him skimp out on something good just because it might clog his arteries one day wouldn't be allowed, nope nope. "Considering this is a forest and all, I'll look at work in carpentry. I'm good with my hands and can cut down trees that are used for building purposes." Trees eventually died and needed to be removed. Doing that sort of work didn't bug him at all. "Or... maybe gathering and hunting. I'm not too shabby at bringing home the literal bacon."★ tempest riveria ★ but you don't even drink the beer!
