THE WATCHER
BELROSE E. S. ARGILE TWENTY-TWO FALL THIEF'S RIVAL | ASEXUAL FIVE FOOT SIX HUMAN SCORPIO |
personality
Belrose is known to be extremely sociable, possessing an inhuman charisma and conversational ability. She is extremely charming, and will utilise any means she has to appear to others as a generous, kind, friendly, even to some extent sensual young woman. However, truth be told, she is none of these. Belrose does not experience feeling in the same way that most others do; she simply lacks the capacity to care -- or at least, her ability to do so is far below normal standards. While extremely kind and sociable on the outside, she really does not care about what her conversation partner is saying, deep down. This leads to many a broken heart; flattery and flirtation are among Belrose's assets, and so when a young man or woman fall in love, she herself has yet to feel the same.
Belrose is an extremely curious individual. The reason she exudes such a sociable pretence is because she is extremely interested in emotions; while she herself does not feel them, she senses them from others at a very high level, and is extremely interested in learning how to evoke certain feelings from others. As a result, she may sometimes interact with people in an unusual way just to make them feel a certain emotion. To her, people are something like 'glorified lab rats' to observe and take mental notes of. She stores mental "files" on each person she interacts with, full of information regarding the various 'emotion tests'. When she comes in contact with that person again, her mind accesses that information and she uses it to his advantage; as such she can be quite manipulative, sometimes unintentionally so.
As one who does not feel, Belrose cannot truly understand values such as "friendship" and "trust". As a result, she does not understand when she should consider herself 'close' to someone, and instead looks to the behaviour of others to understand such strange notions. She is not entirely foreign to bonds, however; she is extremely loyal to those she has known for a long time, even if she does not truly appreciate their bond in its truest sense. She does, however, seek to learn to appreciate these bonds, as well as understand -- and be able to reciprocate -- feelings. Note that this is NOT because she feels alone, but simply because she is curious as to what it is like to express emotions.

history
Belrose Elizabeth Salcia Argile was born to a wealthy Human father and a Mermaid, taking on an odd blend of their characteristics. While she is human by nature, her mother's hair took dominance, giving her naturally blue-violet hair of inhuman volume and length. Furthermore, with a largely androgynous look about her, she is sometimes mistaken for a petite male. She was seen as something of a mystery, often regarded in quiet wonder. She herself watched others in that same wonder, but for a different reason. Very early in her life, it became clear that she was different from other children: she could not feel emotion. No love towards her parents, no guilt at doing wrong, no hate when she was picked on...truly she was isolated. And yet despite the lack of feeling, she could sense very strongly how others around her felt -- a talent that had her quite addicted.
Belrose quickly began using any means available to elicit emotional responses from others -- kindness, rudeness, vulgarity, anything that worked. This eventually brought her to a confrontation with the King of Thieves, and what was soon to become a growth of rivalry. Their meeting began as most did with other people -- she sought to draw out those lovely emotions she could not experience -- though, she was to be disappointed in this case; he was as predictable as most others she met. And yet, it was that chance meeting that brought upon her a rivalry to be. Perhaps not interesting by her standards, he could truly care less -- he could smell the money on her family, and easily tracked them down, robbing them of their riches and escaping into the night. While she could not feel regret or anger towards him, Belrose did understand one thing: an eye for an eye is an even trade. So if this man stole from her, then she too would learn the ways of the thieves, and steal it right back.
She left home then, disguising herself as a male and engaging in the practices of thievery as she slowly learned its art. The skill came naturally to her, and of course it was much more productive than wasting hours at a job; furthermore, during her "time off" when she was not disguised, it made her experiments with the people far more interesting, particularly if they actually noticed she had stolen from them. Now a very practiced thief and master of the mind, Belrose hopes soon she might take back what is hers.
