The first thing that you need to know about Dione is that she is not nice. The second thing you need to know about Dione is that she is not nice. It isn't out of any malice, as odd as it sounds; she simply doesn't see any sense in being nice to people, as it tends to be something of a waste of time. She doesn't go out of her way to be mean, but she's naturally a haughty, cold person. She also has a tendency to talk. A lot. So if you end up in a conversation with her, you should expect to have your ear talked off.
Though she isn't weak by any means, Dione has a tendency to give up extremely easily and not really set any huge goals in life. She wants to design clothing for a living, as that is a pursuit that was deemed "fit for a young lady" by her parents, but she doesn't know how she would get started and hasn't ever been particularly driven to accomplish it beyond working in her spare time. She has been known to show kindness on occasion, but there's an extremely good chance that it was purely by accident. It's hard to tell if her cold exterior is armor protecting a delicate girl, or if that's just how she is.

Dione has been, for as long as she could remember, the golden child of the Laroche family in the wealthier residential district of Heim. Ten years younger than her sister, Arianna, the two of them have never been what one would consider close... particularly with her sister's penchant for staying out at all hours and doing as she would. Because of this, her parents treated Dione as though she was made of glass. Her mother, in particular, took care to ensure that the girl did absolutely nothing she wasn't supposed to, and she was generally kept inside the house, leading to her pale complexion and rather stunted growth. Her parents were insanely wealthy, and Dione was schooled by private tutors brought to her own house. Because of this and her estrangement from her sister, Dione never had anyone close to her age to spend time with, leading to a difficulty in communicating with other youths.
She began sewing at a very young age, as it was one of the very few recreational activities she was permitted to engage in beyond playing instruments and art, neither of which she was ever very good at. She took to designing her own clothing, though her mother never permitted her to wear it. Despite this, Dione became quite good at working with patterns and, later, able to cut cloth without the use of a pattern and simply by using measurements. During this time, she was largely unaware that her father was racking up gambling debts across Heim, putting off the payments with promises and the use of his family name.
When both of her parents passed away, the debtors came calling. At the end of it, Dione and Arianna were left with barely any money and no property to their name. Unable to remain in Heim, they've moved to Ilusia to attempt to start a new life for themselves, despite the fact that they barely know each other and like each other even less. For Dione, attending the public school for the first time in her life... well, it can't be that hard, can it?
