The water crashed against the coast, lapping at the sand as the early afternoon sun cast a warm glow across Ilusia. The sky was clear and it still early, and the waves were cool as they lapped at the sandy beach and those on it. The day was a perfect one for what she needed to get done, and nothing was going to stop her from accomplishing it. Stepping across the sand, Briar looked across the beach. In her hand she held a small carefully crafted basket and on her shoulder a handbag tucked neatly under her arm. Her tail, the same color as her long warm blonde hair, hung behind her to her thighs, unrestrained by the dun dress she wore. Her ears poked out from under her matching hat, and the water was calming enough on them as she worked. Bending down as a glimmer of something caught her eye, she brushed away from sand to pick up a seashell. Amber eyes roamed over it intently, taking in the array of colors across it and the nearly perfect smoothness of the back. Once it met her approval, it was placed into the small basket, and the beastwoman continued her way down the long stretch of coast. In the same manner she paused and stopped often, picking up various shells and pretty stones to use to make jewelry. As each were found, they were placed into the basket with the others. Every so often a bead would be found and added, or a piece of glass made by the sand. There was also the occasional item that washed up from the ocean, and each were scrutinized before meeting approval. "These will do nicely enough." Picking up another seashell, Briar held it in her hand. Looking it over, she took in the blue shine it gave off. "I can work with this."★ open ★ gathering pretty stones and shells to make jewelry

Everything felt... Off. No work to do. Only a small room to clean. Nothing to cook. Plenty of time to just... Do anything. How long had it even been since Xara arrived in this place? Not long, but long enough that staying inside to do nothing was already getting on her nerves. She didn't get a chance to really get a good look at the beach when she arrived, so perhaps today would be better for that. After making sure the room at the inn was sufficiently tidied up, the maid made her way to the coast to take in the sight of what she had only rushed through before. There many more non-humans around here than there were back home, but they couldn't be too different if they stood on two legs and stood like humans, right? Conveniently enough, there just so happened to be a beastwoman not too far from where she was standing on the coast. She was dressed just like a human, stood upright like a human, had a basket and handbag just like a human, and had... Were those... Ears? There was definitely something sticking out from her hat. There was also the tail. That definitely wasn't a human thing unless it just happened to be a very strange growth. It had to be a tail. Taking a deep breath to prepare herself, Xara began shuffling forward slowly towards the beastwoman so she could confirm if those really were ears and a tail. She also made a mental note to never wear her uniform to the beach ever again. ★ briar desiree/open ★ lean over more when picking things up :x

The feeling of eyes on her and a soft, new sound of movement lingering on the edge of her hearing against the waves allowed her to quickly pick up on that she was no longer alone. Straightening back up and bringing a hand up with her to hold her hat still in the breeze, she gave a noncommittal gaze to the newcomer in her presence. The details of the orange-haired woman were taken in, eyes finally coming to rest on her own. "Can I help you with something?" Her tone had an edge to it as she spoke, having caught the other staring as she was. Returning to her task, Briar studied a new stone, one that was colored a soft lavender with a smooth surface like glass. "Or are you simply too stunned by my beauty that you couldn't help but stare?"Glancing once more to the other in her presence, her own confidence clearly showing, she allowed herself a second look. The maid clothing she wore was hard to miss and the face of the girl was unrecognizable. Who would think to wear something that heavy to a beach of all places? It was far too hot from the looks of it and would only get in the way with the warm spring weather and alluring waters. "Or is it that you have simply never seen a beastman before, because you seem far too interested in my tail as it is, considering that is where you keep looking." In emphasis, she appendage gave a flick. "You can't be from around here, then."★ xara, open ★ no butt views for you

So maybe sneaking wasn't Xara's strong suit. Granted, she wasn't trying very hard since the uniform made it all but impossible, but it was still a reminder that she still hadn't reached the level of her predecessors just yet. Perhaps another year or three would help with that. Gripping the sides of her dress loosely, the maid dipped into a practiced curtsey and smiled politely at the beastwoman before her. "Greetings, madam. I was only passing through the area, nothing more." She raised an eyebrow slightly at the beastwoman and chuckled, keeping any hint of surprise from showing outwardly. "Although I suppose you wouldn't be too far off about the other part. "That tail. It was so... People back home just didn't have those. That, or they hid them very well. Then again, the clothes here and the clothes in Heim did appear remarkably different. Xara couldn't recally seeing anyone else dressed as extravagantly as herself or her companions, but that could have been a matter of location as well. Finding something else to wear would definitely help them fit in better. "I've seen a few before, but only at a distance and not more than a glance." Glancing towards the water again, the maid squinted for a moment before gesturing towards a shell in the far distance. It would be easy enough to make out the overall shape of a person from that distance, but not enough to actually determine things like facial features or clothes textures. "Roughly that far away. You're correct about that, too. Are you a local from here or...?" ★ briar desiree/open ★ you know you want to

She had heard rumors spreading around as of late. Rumors spoke of a group of strange individuals that had come from far in the north, settling down in the area for an unknown amount of time. She had also heard whisperings that they were also staying at the Sea Breeze Inn, and had already taken quite a few trips out into the village. With gossip like that, it was really no surprise that it had reached her ears. She would have to have a talk with Holly about this when she saw her again. Judging from the look of her and her manner of speak, Briar was almost positive that this woman was one of the three. The others response only proved that, especially with her asking that sort of question. Though, Briar's noted with a tinge of prideful amusement, the girl hadn't exactly denied her claim of staring for her looks, and the fact that she had bowed to her of all people only enhanced that. That and she was from Heim, a city vastly different from Ilusia known for its higher class. Perhaps it would be more interesting than she had originally thought, if she played her cards right. "Yes, I am. Though I suppose if you had been from around here I m sure you would have known that." A glance was spared to where the maid had gestured. She made a mental note to retrieve that shell later as she went about her work. Making her way over to a shaded spot, she spread out the blanket in her canvas bag. "Considering you have hardly seen any, I suppose I'll indulge you this once and forgive you." Sitting down, the basket was pulled into her lap. Picking up a small sparkling shell, she began polishing it. "So, you're from Heim, aren't you? I heard that we had visitors and since I don't recognize you, I assume that you are. What exactly brought you all the way here of all places?"★ xara, open ★ so interested, aren't you, xara?

News traveled fast even here, it seemed. Xara wasn't sure whether to be flattered or worried that people were actually talking about their arrival. "If I was from around here, certainly. But... You guessed correctly." Smiling softly, she watched the stranger as she set out the blanket to sit on. "You're correct about me being from Heim, too. Mm... Is our arrival that big of an event?"If nothing else, she could try and figure out just who was spreading this information. The innkeepers would be the obvious culprits, but there was also the possibility of a spy at home. Perhaps this conversation would end up being more useful than expected. Following her to the blanket, Xara made sure to stand a few inches away from the blanket so as to not actually step on it. Even if she was a beastwoman, there was something different about the air around her. "Seems a little strange for news to spread just over a small vacation. My.. Companions needed a break from life at home, and I came to make sure things went smoothly for them. Where did you hear of us coming, if I may?"The maid spared a quick glance around the area before turning back to the beastwoman, then held a hand at her waist before dipping into a light bow. "My name is Xara. It's a pleasure to meet you, madame. May I have your name in return?"★ briar desiree/open ★ only as much as legally obligated to

"Oh, you know. The village is practically buzzing with news of your arrival." The seashell she worked on came clean relatively easily. Beneath the sand and dirt, it shined a gossamer shade of purple with hints of green. The underside was smooth and colored like a pearl. The smoothness felt nice beneath her fingers as she set it aside. "This is one of those places where if someone new arrives, everyone hears about it in just a short time."Amber eyes flickered once more to the maid as she stood. Reaching up to her hat, she pushed it back to give herself a better view of the girl standing beside her. A thin blonde eyebrow arched in waiting, almost as if asking if she intended to simply stand there unmoving as she was. "It's Briar Desiree. You may as well sit down, since that is what beach blankets are for." Picking up another from her basket, a gem this time, she held it behind her fingers, intrigued. "If they came for a vacation, there were certainly less inconspicuous ways to do it." She could just see the others faces at her, of all people, saying that. "Anyway, yes, I do live here is Asgard. I make jewelry."★ xara, open ★ so she tells herself

That much was understandable, at least. Strangers coming in all at the same time, possibly with the intent to do... Something or another. If the same had happened back in Heim, Xara doubted the other servants would stay quiet for long, either. "I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, then. You'll likely see the others over the next few weeks or so."Would it be a good idea to have them meet this beastwoman? She seemed trustworthy enough at the moment, and it wasn't as if her companions had not already met with other people before. It could be an interesting learning experience for them. At Briar's words, the maid finally took a seat on the blanket and let out a quiet sigh of relief. New shoes. Something more practical for the grass and dirt around this place. "I don't think they were expecting to make such a grand entrance, but if the village rarely has visitors to begin with, I doubt arriving in anything more than a shipping crate would keep ourselves out of the public eye." The idea of being crammed into a box with them was amusing, but she would never hear the end of it by the time they got out. Eyeing the gem in Briar's hand, Xara rested her hands neatly on her lap as she glanced around the shore once again. "A jeweler? So that's why you were here, I assume. Hm... Do you do custom requests?"★ briar desiree/open ★ or maybe she's just playing hard heh heh hard

"Oh, I'd hardly say we don't get visitors." Noticing the other's interest in the jewel in her hands, Briar moved the basket containing her day's finds from her lap to sit between them. The array of shells, gems, and unique stones were enough to catch the attention of just about anyone, and one could only imagine how they'd look when she finished. "It's just that not everyone makes a grand entrance that practically announces that they are royalty. Besides, having friends in the right places definitely helps."All three of her closest friends lived in the inn. Holly, Fayt, and Wynter were the sort she could converse easily, and having heard it from the inn keeper's son himself during one of his rants helped somewhat. Taking some time in the near future to stop by and pay a visit definitely stepped up in her list of priorities. Spending some time with Holly would be worthwhile as well. "All of the materials I use, I gather myself. With as many shells and stones that wash up on the beach, I'm never lacking in ideas." From earrings to necklaces, and even custom pieces to wear on various parts of the body. While she knew it was a far cry from the diamonds and sapphires nobles wore, each handcrafted piece had its own unique charm. Of those she was quite proud of. "As a matter of fact, yes, I do take them. Did you have something in mind or are you just satisfying your curiosity?" Briar tilted her head inquisitively. ★ xara, open ★ she will be by the time this is done

The collection of stones was rather impressive even with the maid's experience in seeing these types of things. They didn't appear to be the same sort of gems that Xara was used to seeing among the nobles, but there was a certain natural beauty to these that made them look even better in comparison even without polishing. Maybe she was just getting jaded. "A grand entrance? Hm... I'll have to mention that to them if they hope to have a more subtle arrival next time, then." Chuckling lightly, Xara peered at the stones and leaned in slightly to get a better look, furrowing a brow after a moment. "Impressive. It must be difficult work. I don't have any experience in actually.. Working with these myself, but you could probably already guess that." Cleaning them was one thing, but actually putting them together into something that could be worn as jewelry was another matter entirely. "A few idle thoughts. There's so many in here, but I wouldn't know what to start with as gifts..." Xara peered into the basket for a while longer before glancing up at Briar and gesturing at the basket slowly. "Just because you have no ideas for gifts doesn't mean you can't choose something for yourself." Her hand moved idly to the basket in between them, slender fingers plucking up one of the stones there. The one that had been selected turned out to be of a pale lavender. The beach made for one of the better places to make jewelry, especially for the warmer seasons. During spring and summer, jewelry made of seashells was incredibly common and favored among the village people. Done correctly, she could make just about any type of piece with them, and was very proud that she could do it well. "Go ahead. It's not as if it will hurt them." Her eyes cast back to where Xara was gesturing to the basket, giving a nod in consent. Turning the stone over on her hand, she studied it and took in the details of it. Her eyes lidded fractionally at the small crack running down the back, though that it not what caught her attention. It was the glint of something inside. "Now this is interesting... You see, Xara, not everything is as they appear with these." Reaching into her canvas bag, she pulled out a slender silver pick. Putting the stone down she placed the tip against the sliver of a crack. Grabbing up a rock from the sand, she held it up, poised, before bringing it down on the end. Once, twice, and the small stone broke in two, revealing jade crystals inside. "On that note, if there is one in there you find particularly appealing, I will make you one." Pleased at her find, she folded into into a handkerchief to keep from getting damaged. Briar tucked it away. "Besides, it'll help promote business if you like it."★ xara, open ★ no, I'm saying xara will <3

"For myself? No, I couldn't." Shaking her head lightly, Xara chuckled for a moment as she peered at the lavendar stone, trying to determine what it was from sight alone. "I wouldn't have an opportunity to wear something like this, anyway. Work and all. It's not really my place to wear these kinds of things."Of course, not knowing what any of these stones were actually called made that infinitely harder. Picking up a bluish-green stone from the basket, she turned it over in her hand several times. Still no idea what it was, but at least it looked nice. "I'd be worried if objects could feel pain. Especially if..."The maid trailed off as Briar started to work on the stone with the pick, chuckling a moment later. "...They could feel that." She raised an eyebrow after Briar extracted the jade inside, then set the stone in her hand aside to pick up another relatively similar stone from the basket. "Impressive. I didn't think something that already looked like it could be used as jewelry on its own could hide even more inside."Eyeing the two stones side by side, Xara smirked in satisfaction before holding them out to her companion. She remembered back when she had first started making jewelry. The beastwoman had found a stone of black onyx that had made her impossibly angry trying to figure out what she could do with it. In anger she threw it onto the floor of her apartment and had been ready to storm off when she had noticed it. The stone had broken and inside was the most beautiful of minerals that shined like crystal. "You'd be surprised what you can find inside even the ugliest of stone." Briar ran her ringers through the warm blonde locks that fell over her shoulder. As breeze passed by, causing them to drift on the wind. "Luckily for you, rocks can not feel any sort of pain."Amber eyes regarded the two stones Xara held up scrutinizingly. Her hand that had been holding her hair extended, letting the breeze return to toy with the strands as each stone was regarded. Her eyes flickered a few moments after to Xara, once more taking in the maid's appearance in relation to the stones in her hand. "This one is lace agate and this is a blue tourmaline." The lavender and teal stones were gestured to respectively. Handing them back, Briar held up two fingers to signify the cost. "Since is it your first time, I will discount you. "I'll need to keep that in mind the next time I find any suspicious stones." Chuckling again, the maid peered at the stones in her hand again while wondering just what could be hidden inside them. She resisted the urge to try and crack either one open immediately, though, since they already looked good as they were and there wasn't any guarantee there would be anything hidden inside at all. "If they could... Well, I would just have to apologize in advance." Being a sentient rock seemed like it would be a terrible existence. Waiting endlessly to either get smashed, eaten by fish or particularly stupid children, unable to move without someone else to exert force... At least hair was light enough to move with light breezes and follow on someone's head. Xara usually didn't do much with her own hair aside from washing and brushing it, although wearing it in a bun while working helped to keep it from getting in the way. Today, it was loose and allowed to flow as it wanted, thankfully not getting in her mouth with the breezes around the beach. "Others. The princess and her guard, specifically. I thought it would be nice for them to have matching pendants or bracelets or... Something of that nature." If nothing else, they would make for good souvenirs from the area if their investigation took them away from Asgard. The cost wasn't too steep, either, and there was always the possibility of buying more if they really liked these. ★ briar desiree/open ★ briar can have them too and then they can be fencing buddies

That settled it. When she returned home, the beastwoman would head down to her small rented shop below her apartment. The warm sunlight of the afternoon would still be streaming in through the two large front windows as she pulled her white cushioned chair to the desk she worked at. The basket that had been gathered that day would be gone through, taking in the potential for each piece and remembering the ideas when they had been found. Notes would be gotted down to ensure nothing was forgotten. Yet the basket would soon be pushed to the side. The two stones that had been requested would be studied and every detail taken in. From the accents to the shine, to the type of stone, ideas would brew in her head. Various other items would be compared to them to find a good match should she pair them with anything. Types of jewelry would be considered, from earrings to necklaces, and even to anklets with the warmer weather upon the country. The process would be repeated until an idea she was pleased with would be chosen, and the work to craft it beginning. With a knight and a princess under consideration for the pieces, her utmost would go into them. Her pride would as well. "Well, then, Xara. You have come to the right person." Standing up, the bag and basket she brought was gathered up. The blanket was folded and placed away. "A week is all I need to turn these into the perfect pieces. You can find me then."Stepping down the beach, Briar paused once she was a few feet away. Turning to gaze back over her shoulder, she smirked slightly. "Oh, and try not to talk to too many rocks. People might begin to think you are crazy."★ xara, open ★ wrap up time?
