TYPOGRAPHER
ISABEL VEROIR TWENTY-TWO WINTER N/A | HETEROSEXUAL FIVE FEET SEVEN INCHES HUMAN CAPRICORN |
personality
As a journalist, Isabel is insatiably curious. As a young woman trying to establish her business in a foreign country, she is also extraordinarily stressed. Since her financial success is based - to an extent - on having people think favorably of her, it is very important to Isabel that she leave a good impression. Although she suffers from heavy anxiety, she has spent years struggling to let it show as little as possible.
She is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about anything that falls within her numerous areas of interest. She loves meeting strangers, she loves learning anything new, and the only person she ever judges harshly - internally or in her reporting - is herself. She prides herself on being an unbiased reporter. Everyone reacts to misfortune in different ways, and Isabel is determined that it make her stronger. It has also made her paranoid. She believes that she is truly on her own, and that dependency is just setting herself up for disaster.

history
Isabel grew up in her father's printshop in Heim. Owner of one of Heim's most successful newspapers, the man doted on his daughter and spoiled her as much as he could.
Disaster, when it struck, struck hard. After the death of Heim's king, a rival company suddenly overtook them in popularity. Their sales plummeted, and they were forced to let go more and more of their workers. Isabel's father secretly believed that the queen was to blame in some way.
What remained of the company was utterly ruined when a fire destroyed half the printshop, taking Isabel's father with it. Isabel found herself using much of her inheritance to pay off extreme amounts of debt that she hadn't even known her family was in. She set off to Ilusia on a ship with a single printing press and enough trays of movable type to work with.
Since settling down in Ilusia two years ago, Isabel has done her best to get the Oceanside Journal off the ground, somewhat hindered by the fact that she's doing all of the work entirely by herself.
