To call Tempest "proper" could be said to be the understatement of the century. He is as uptight as his manner of dress seems to suggest; considering that he's almost never seen without dress shirt, pants, and shoes, vest, dress coat, top coat, gloves, tie, and hat, it suggests quite a level of uptight behavior (this manner of dress is a contradiction to his bright green wings that he almost never bothers to hide). He never speaks in contractions, only using apostrophes for possessives, and getting him to actually smile is a feat worthy of a medal. That is not to say that he is an angry person by any stretch of the imagination, he just... does not find expressing joy something that people should do. And if getting him to smile is a challenge, one can imagine how few people have actually heard Tempest laugh.

Though he is so serious it borders on an extreme flaw, he is extremely easy to embarrass, which invariably leads to him becoming quite upset. When upset, he closes himself off further from not only the offender but everyone he knows. It can take him quite a while to pull himself out of that, as well. Generally, he prefers to bury himself in intellectual pursuits and can lose days at a time if no one pulls him out of his haze. Of course, if you do pull him out of it, prepare to face the consequences. He does not take kindly to that, either.

history

Tempest was born an only child to a historian and a scholar, so from a young age, his life was filled with books and learning of all kinds. He learned how to read before he learned how to fly and, for the longest time, his parents thought he was mute because he communicated all of his thoughts on paper. He did start speaking at age six, however, when his thoughts became so complex that it was harder to write them out than it was to just say them.

Since then, he has devoted his time to studying any subject that he can get books on. He had no need for traditional schooling as his parents took care of everything for him, and when he stopped aging at around twenty-eight, he began apprenticing at different places throughout Meridell. Due to his intellect and wisdom, he soon got the attention of the elven royal family in Avalon and began working under them. By the age of sixty, he had become a liaison between them and Meridell itself, where he still resides.

He travels back and forth once a season to give reports on the progress of Meridell and obtain updates on what needs to be done, such as hiring town officials or any changes in their legal or social structures. However, this is not a terribly taxing job, so he has a lot of time to devote to his studies. Primarily, he is interested in magic, and has had over a century to learn and practice it. Because of this, he is a renowned mage and spends some of his free time educating those younger than he who catch his interest. This does not happen often.
