If I Could Be Where You Are

The smell of rain had lingered all day. Such a thing wasn't odd when you lived in the high mountains. But this felt different. There was something that tinted the air that made Jamie feel a bit uneasy. The kitty girl had been roaming around outside, just itching for something to do. Where was Ailonwy? Amir was gone too. A few of her other friends from the village were off doing their own thing too. Jamie was left all by herself! She absently kicked at a pebble as she shut her eyes tight. Being by herself sucked! But then she felt a raindrop on her nose. Jamie looked up to see grey clouds looming overhead. The wind was starting to pick up as well. Her thick blonde hair started to blow around, and despite her attempts to tuck it behind her ear, it just wouldn't stay put. That was a bad sign. The rain started to come down before she could make it to shelter. She had tried her hardest to make it beneath a protective canopy before the rain hit her hair, but to no avail. Do you have any idea how hard it is to detangle a mane of hair like hers!? Jamie whimpered softly and sat down on a bench. This was not her house, but the owner would most likely understand her need for shelter when they looked outside. Now more than ever did she wish for Ailonwy's safety. Where was she at? Jamie combed her fingers through her mass of hair, deepening her breaths as her bell jingled with every movement. It was a soothing sound to hear, though it soon became drowned out with the rain. Blue eyes gazed up at the sky. She gulped and had to tear her gaze away. It was bad enough that it was raining, but not knowing where her friends were was worrisome. She kept combing her hair to take her mind off of things.

Having acute senses did help in most situations, but the rain tended to muddle them up. However, even though she could not hear nor smell someone approaching, her sharp feline eyes spotted movement in the distance. It took only a split second to realize who it was. Pure white in the middle of the darkened forest... Jamie shouted out to her friend as soon as she saw her. "Ailonwy! Ailo--" Before she knew it, her wrist was being tugged at and she was being dragged through the rain and mud. The kitty girl squealed and almost wanted to struggle against her friend's hold, but she didn't want to be separated from her again. Once they were in the safety of Ailonwy's home, Jamie began to protest. Her hair was sopping wet, and her clothes, and her whole everything! The girl pouted as she pushed the hair out of her eyes, and peeled it away from her face. "Ailonwy! Why did you have to drag me into the rain! I found protection, I was just fine!"Her bout of temper went away very quickly, and she let her shoulders sag. "At least you are safe." A playful smile crept to her face, and despite being soaked and feeling very uncomfortable with her clothes sticking to her, Jamie pounced at her friend and rested her arms over Ailonwy's shoulders. "My poor Ailo! Let's warm up, nyaa~"

Ailonwy knew her friend would be rather displeased with her over the rough treatment, but she had wanted to get them both into more secure shelter. The canopy Jamie had huddled under would not save her from the rain should the wind grow more violent and blow the rain in whichever direction it wished. She turned to bolt the door behind her to make sure the wind could not blow it open. Now all she wanted was a hot bath to chase the chill of this unnatural rain from her veins. Her entire body quivered for a moment before she forced herself to stand still. Amber eyes flickered back to Jamie as she merely stared at her with a bemused expression. Better inside than outside with only paltry cover from a raging storm.
“The storm is only going to get worse, Jamie. That canopy wouldn’t have covered you for long once the wind blew the full force of the rain into you,” she chided gently. Being angry with the younger girl was difficult at best, and she knew how sensitive she could be when confronted with the slightest hint of temper. It was of little surprise when Jamie’s brief show of anger instantly melted away. Ailonwy wrapped her own arms around her friend and ran her fingers through her hair gently. The heavy mass of blond curls would have to be dried as quickly as possible, or she would surely catch a cold.
“How about I draw up a hot bath and you can chase the chill away, hm? I’m sure some of my clothes will fit you well enough.” Gently disengaging herself from Jamie, she lead her towards the bathroom where she quickly began to run the water to fill the tub. With that done, she disappeared into her bedroom to return with a few towels and a change of clothing. Setting the clothes down, she did attack Jamie with a towel in an attempt to at least wring some of the water from her blond curls. How the younger girl had such thick hair she would never know. | Tag: Jamie~ Notes: I'm going with indoor plumbing, though. Not something to live without. -shot- |

Perhaps Ailonwy was right. The wind was crazy bad, and the canopy wouldn't have helped for long. Jamie let her ears droop as a sign of defeat. This was why they were the best of friends~! Ailonwy was so smart! Her ears perked right up again when she thought of how grateful she was for Ailonwy. Jamie purred lightly at the fingers that ran through her hair. Yessss, Jamie thought she was the best person ever for giving her pets and cuddles. Except for when she offered her a bath. Jamie wasn't much of a fan of water, though baths were something she was okay with. But she wouldn't go down without a fuss! She shivered lightly and shook her head, which she was barely able to do because of her mass of sopping hair. "Can I just dry off? No bath for me, ehehe..." She had let her guard down as she closed her eyes to giggle. When she opened them again, Ailonwy had attacked her with a towel! "Aiieee!" she squealed, throwing her hands up in defense as giggles poured from her lips. "Stop it, stop it! I'll turn into a frizz ball!" Did Ailonwy have any idea how long it took Jamie to brush her hair in the morning so she didn't look like a lion!? She half-heartedly pushed at Ailonwy to make her go away, but of course she just gave in. The water had almost filled the tub, and Jamie let her lips puff slightly in a pout. After the attack of the towels, Jamie dipped a finger into the water. "Can... Can I at least have some bubbles?" she asked as she swirled her finger in the water. ★ ughhh yes i agree. that is why camping sucks so much </3 ★ Ailonwy Sanjay

Jamie could act indignant all she wanted, but that hardly meant Ailonwy was going to soften towards her. Not when she was soaking wet and would likely catch cold if she did not warm herself up. The thought that she should do the same thing did not cross her mind too much. She would do so after her friend had been taken care of. Besides, her hair was much easier to manage than that mane her friend called hair. Ailonwy giggled a little at the thought, but she did admire Jamie’s lovely, golden hair. She did not envy the amount of care it needed to be maintained, though. It was rather humorous to watch her friend attempt to escape her attempts to dry her off, but she was having none of it.
The pout was nothing new, and Ailonwy had to suppress the urge to grin. It was easy to act much more free with her emotions with her best friend. Giggling to herself, she checked the temperature of the water and was pleased that it was not too hot. It was better to warm up gradually that assault the body with too much heat at once. Ailonwy was also pleased that Jamie was checking the temperature of the water, even if she did not enjoy the prospect of getting soaked in even more water. Amber eyes were rolled playfully at the hesitant request for bubbles. “How about vanilla scented?” Honestly, it was the only bubble bath she kept, since the scent was subtle and mild enough not to cause her discomfort.
Most of the others she had tried smelled too strongly and left her dizzy and nauseated. Ailonwy uncapped the bottle and poured it into the still running water. In a few moments, the tub was filled with bubbles that would be sure too keep Jamie happy while she bathed. “I’ll come back with some clothes after I dry myself off. And make sure you wash your hair!” With a playful smile, she closed the bathroom door behind her and went to her bedroom to dry off her hair and change out of her soaked clothing. | Tag: Jamie~ Notes: Yeah, I would never go without showering for a day to camp. </3;; |

The problem with baths was that no matter now deep or shallow the water was, some of her hair always got wet. It was easy enough to avoid the water touching her hair with a shower, but a bath... It was too hard! So as Jamie pulled her soaking clothing away from her body and stepped into the vanilla-scented bubbles, already a bunch of her hair soaked up the water. Jamie mewled lightly and submerged herself in the warm water until the bubbles were up to her eyes. It really did feel nice, but it was after she got out that she was worried about... Jamie soon got over it, and instead started to play with the bubbles. When her friend came back in to give her the change of clothes, Ailonwy would see not Jamie... but a bubble monster with a hat of bubbles and a beard of bubbles. "Nyaaa~!" she screeched as she popped out of the water to reveal her scary, monstrous form~! ★ maybe i'll just power-post through this so we can get to the other event thread? ;o; ★ Ailonwy Sanjay

Aw, phooey! Ailonwy was not phased at all by her monstrous bubbles! Jamie frowned and sank deeper into the bubbles. It was about time to get out, anyway. The water was getting cold. Jamie, obviously not shy at all, lifted herself up out of the tub and onto the rug so that water would not drip everywhere. She quickly grabbed a towel because exposure to the air made her start to shiver. It sure was cold! Perhaps it was better to be in warm water, even if it wouldn't be warm for long! After she had dried off some, she slipped on the clothes that Ailonwy had lent her. She twisted her hair to wring out some of the water, and she used a towel to scrunch it all up. Was it warm enough to even dry her hair? Would it be dry by morning? She'd just have to hope. Jamie stretched her arms above her head and yawned a little. "Welp, it's bed time now, right? Nyaaa, I didn't realize how sleepy I was."She followed Ailonwy to where she would be sleeping, and that was that~
