❀ Seyka~ This shall be fun~! | Something off was happening tonight. Cassandra could feel it in her very bones, and she wondered if everyone else in Meridell could feel it as well. Her hand was pressed against the glass of her window as she stared up at the cloudy sky. That was certainly not unusual for a storm, but the moon had never glowed a sickly green color in her lifetime. It could be seen through the cloud cover as the thunder rumbled loudly. She prayed fervently that the homes built within these trees would hold against such an onslaught. Her training in magic was not vast by any means, but she could sense such things far more ably as a faerie. There was something happening tonight and she did not long to see what it was.
The anxiety had her wrapping her arms around herself in a vain attempt at comfort. The anxiety of being sent here by her parents, and now this ominous storm. The wind howled against the roof of the house she was staying in and she wished desperately that Seth or her sister were here. They must have taken shelter elsewhere while out. Cassandra quickly drew her curtains closed before moving to grab matches to light the candles in her bedroom. It cast a comforting, warm glow about the slightly plain room. If only it could completely assuage the worry she felt. A soft sigh escaped her, but she nearly jumped when she heard a knocking on the main door of the dwelling. Who could be calling for her now? Seth or her sister had the keys to enter.
Cassandra grasped one of the candle holders as she departed from her bedroom. Her footsteps were slow and slightly hesitant as she crossed the main living area to grasp the handle of the door. The cold metal felt almost alive to her senses and she shivered. Everything felt so wrong. She opened the door and nearly slumped forward in relief, but she kept her posture straight and slightly tense. Her expression was one of bemusement as she stared at the thoroughly soaked figure. “Seyka?” |

| Something wasn’t right about tonight. There was definitely something that did not bode any good news. Especially with the way the moon on this night glowing an eerie green color. The trees up in the canopy rustled restlessly as if telling the young she-fae that trouble was on the move. Seyka tended to trust her instincts with these kinds of intuition. It probably didn’t help assuage her worries either that she decided to sleep up in the trees outside again. Not like she didn’t have a place to go, but rather she preferred to stay in touch with nature. Now was probably a bad time to act on such impulses it seemed.
Dark clouds began to hover up in the skies beyond the canopy barrier of the forest. That was a sure sign for the young greenette to seek shelter elsewhere. It wasn’t safe to be outside. She extended out her translucent wings out before batting them as hard as she could. The rumble of thunder caused her to flinch slightly. Off she took flight to fly into the safe haven of the tree top village of Meridell. Though something else didn’t seem right. Despite the cries of the wind, and the roar of the rain, there was a helpless cry coming from the surface of the forest floor. Her better judgment told her to ignore it and look after herself. Though when was it that the girl ever used her better judgment on things? Not very often...
Down to the forest floor she descended. Blue eyes searched high and low in order to find the cry of help. When she finally came to finding this call for help, she discovered it was an abandoned baby bird. It looked like it feel from a nest, but she couldn’t find it anywhere in sight. Not in this condition. Though she refused to leave it where it was either. The poor thing looked cold, and injured. “Don’t worry, friend,” she said with a small smile, “We’ll get you help, but first~ We need to get out of this storm.” Both of them were soaked to the bone. Seyka could easily catch a cold in this condition. Without hesitation, she scooped the bird into her palms before taking flight back up to Meridell.
The wind whiplashed her violently. It was more than difficult to fly in the storm blowing through. Though she protectively held the bird as gently and guarding it’s condition as best as she could. Though she had no idea where to turn to in order to seek help. Maybe Julian? No, he would probably just yell at her. He was already annoyed with her presence along with Cassandra…
A gasp escaped her lips.
That’s it! Maybe Cassandra could help her out with this~ If anything, she just needed a dry roof over her head to care for the bird. She didn’t care if she got soaked from the rain. It took some time to seek out the house, but thank the heavens she arrived there. With one free hand, she wrapped her palm on the door. She hoped someone was home. A small gasp escaped her lips when the very person she was looking for answered the door. “Cassie,” she greeted desperately, “I-I need your help.” She opened her palm to disclose the little passenger she had with her. The young bird chirped weakly. “H-He’s h-hurt...” That was all she could say through her chattering teeth.

❀ Seyka~ She ish so cute. <3 | Cassandra could only stare for a moment at the unexpected sight of Seyka. Her good sense quickly returned when she was presented with the sight of a baby bird in the greenette’s hands. The small creature looked thoroughly miserable and perhaps injured. She finally stepped back to usher the other faerie in before closing the door and dead bolting it to make sure the wind would not knock it open. Now she had a dripping wet girl in her home with an injured baby bird. It usually took a lot to leave Cassandra utterly confused, but this was one such time. Shaking her head, she quickly placed the candle on a nearby table to leave a light source for Seyka before disappearing back into her bedroom. A change of clothes and towels would be needed, or she would certainly catch a cold.
She entered the living room and quickly formed a small nest of towels for the bird to rest in. The bird was taken from Seyka and set in the warm cocoon to settle for a moment. With that done, Cassandra proceeded to attack the greenette with a towel to dry her off. There were still no words spoken from as she completed this process, but she had little idea of what to say right now. All she was determined to do was dry Seyka off and get her into warm clothes. The goggles were removed and placed on the cough before she handed the bundle of clothes to Seyka to change into. “They will no doubt be somewhat big on you, but better that than sleeping in a soaked shirt,” she said with a gentle smile.
The other girl was pushed towards the bedroom before Cassandra turned her attention to the miserable bird. Her fingers were gentle as she prodded the wing joints and feathers of the creature. It did not screech in pain at the prodding touches, which meant nothing was broken. No doubt he was in slight shock from the topple and hungry. It looked alright for the moment, so she took to the kitchen area to pull out a small jar of preserved peas. They certainly were not to her taste, but they could be mashed for the baby bird to eat. |

| Seyka felt awful for suddenly appearing at the taller blonde fae’s house in her state. It was on an urgent impulse to get the young fledgling assistance before its condition got worse from being out in the storm. The little greenette considered herself strong enough to wade through sun or rain. Though she wasn’t going to allow nature’s cruel hand to take the life of one of the wild life’s existence because it was weak to return back to the nest. “S-Sorry for a-arriving s-so suddenly l-like this on you,” she apologized through chattering teeth once again. Blue eyes flickered up as Cassie silently placed the candle on the table so there was light. Then she disappeared elsewhere in the household. Seyka shivered silently hoping that the blonde maiden wasn’t upset with her. The greenette needed to stop being a burden on people. If she depended on people too much then they would think her to be annoying, and useless. She didn’t want to be useless or just a waste of anybody’s time…
Her worries were quickly put aside when the hostess of the household returned. She had a handful of towels in her hands. Before she knew what was happening, the baby bird was taken out of her hands and wrapped warmly in dried towels. It was given a cozy nest freeing Seyka’s hands. Cassie did a check up on the young critter to make sure if it retained any injuries. For the most part it appeared to be in good condition, there were no visible signs of the creature harmed or a broken wing. A small smile of relief graced her lips. Least, the little chick could relax now that it wasn’t suffering in the rain or cold of the night. Though Seyka’s comfort quickly diminished when she unexpectedly felt a towel attack her. She attempted to protest but her voice was completely muffled by the towel as she felt her frame being dried away.
When she was as dry as she could possibly be, the petite greenette was handed a bundle of clothes. She looked down at the clothes that appeared a bit big for her. It wasn’t Cassie’s fault, but rather Seyka was really tiny, much to her dismay. “Thank you,” she said gratefully. She went into the other room to get changed quickly. Her soaked clothes were peeled off of her skin in exchange for the warm and dry clothes. There was even a sash to tie around her waist to keep the clothes from slipping off of her frame. She picked up her wet clothes from the floor to prevent the surface from getting soaked before returning back to the living room where Cassie was caring for the bird.
“I’m sorry for dropping by so suddenly on you like this,” she apologized again, “I planned on seeking shelter elsewhere from the unexpected storm, but I found that little one. I couldn’t leave him all alone to fend for himself in his state. It was late too… I didn’t know where else to go.” She was more than content with giving the baby bird shelter, but she didn’t want to trouble Cassie with anything.

| There was little point in Seyka apologizing. Cassandra hardly minded the company with her sister and Seth taking shelter elsewhere. Honestly, it was a little nice to spend her time with someone other than the both of them. She was unsure of her emotions on the matter, though. The storm was making her rather uneasy with the strength and sheer wrongness of it. She merely shook her head as she mashed the peas into an edible paste for the fledgling to easily swallow. Hopefully this storm would pass and she could release the bird in the morning after he gained a good rest and some good. Keeping him was not a good option, since nature should hardly be impeded by any mortal race.
Cassandra crinkled her nose a little before bringing the small plate towards the fledgling. The bird fed from her hand easily enough before she glanced towards Seyka with a slight smile. Her demeanor was much more subdued than when they had first met. Back in place was the usual mask she wore when placed into an unexpected situation. It was simply far easier to slip back into that role then wonder if they were friendly enough to drop such pretenses. “I am not an ungracious host, Seyka. It is far safer in here than braving that storm. It is an unnatural one that should be avoided at all costs,” she replied. What she did wonder was how Seyka had known where she lived. Had she mentioned it when they first met? She did not remember.
“He is quite alright for the rest of the night with a warm bed and a full belly, hm?” Her expression softened more as she viewed the bird. His meal had been finished, so she moved over to the sink to rinse off the plate and her hands. Cassandra dried her hands off before turning to Seyka with her head tilted to the side. “Is there anything else you require? You are free to stay in my sister’s room for the night, since she is taking shelter elsewhere. Her room is the one across from mine.” |
