| The cold air of night was so...enticing right now. The atmosphere was dark, and heavy, and Gideon liked it. It was so mysterious, and the moon was even glowing a pale shade of green! But it was dangerous outside, sad. He could feel magic in it! Everyone had already taken shelter presumably back up in the trees, unlike the young boy. Winds started to howl, but Gideon wanted to see if anything would appear! Oh the adventurous young boy and his dangerous antics.
It was raining too, and it was not at all merciful. Gideon had already has his clothes drenched! How could he let the time get away from him, he asked himself in his mind. It wasn't every year that something like this happened, did it? It was so magical! But he was not prepared, so now he was just walking to the building that was nearest to him. Hopefully they would let him in, Gideon was aware that he didn't look like the most normal child, especially with his hair wet. In the dark there were many things that looked the same, such as everything around him.
"Thunder?" he questioned himself, hearing something quiet in the distance. Hmm.....
So he had just gone to what was nearest to him, and knocked on the door. There were crashes in the distance as the storm continued the fury. The low pitched, sudden surprises calmed him though, which was weird. Did the people inside not hear him? Well, it wasn't like there was anymore places for water to go now. Yes, Gideon's situation was rather uncomfortable. Was there anyone else outside? Possibly experiencing the world outside like he was? It could be impossible to hear them though, so much rain about. |

| Cassandra had attempted to fall asleep, but the rain continued to beat insistently against the glass of her window. Tossing and turning did little to help settle her into a more comfortable position. She still had little idea of where Seth and Rhiannon were, but she knew the two of them were safe in Meridell. Her friend was sleeping in her sister’s room for the night along with the bird she had found in her haste to seek shelter. Cassandra sighed gently before disentangling herself from the blankets of her bed. It took a moment, since she had managed to trap herself quite well without realizing it. There was just something so disconcerting about this storm that would not allow her to rest. Leaving the house would be a rather idiotic idea, but perhaps lingering on the porch would not be harmful.
Rising from her bed, she searched through her closet before finding her cloak. She slipped it over her head and tugged it into place. It was slightly water resistant, but she doubted it could repel much of anything with how harshly the rain was coming down. Cassandra twisted her hair back into a loose bun and slipped the hood over her head to shadow her face slightly from view. There was little point in concealing her face, but she did not wish to get too soaked if the porch proof proved to be insufficient in blocking out most of the rain. She opened her bedroom door and closed it quietly behind her. Hopefully Seyka was a heavy sleeper, right?
Yet another knock on her door had her pausing in her tracks. Cassandra felt her lips tugging into an amused smirk before she quickly lowered her hood. Crossing the living room, she reached the door and pulled it open cautiously to see a younger male standing on the other side. He was drenched much like Seyka had been and she quickly stood to the side to usher him in. “Caught in the storm? Please, come in. I would hardly wish for you to catch a cold by lingering outside.” |

❀ Cassandra! Gravity Falls reference | Just when lil' Gideon started to lose hope, that he would just have to fight it out back home, and probably catch a cold. He at least wrung some of the water out of the dark cloak he wore somewhere off the side of the porch, it was cold and hard to twist since he was weak and all. What if it turned out, the water was cursed and since the dark masked color, it was actually green murky water! And then it-And then the door opened! The inner child in him screamed,"yaaaaaay". A really pretty girl opened the door, even prettier than Estel! And THAT was saying something. The boy smiled as there was eye-straining light from inside.
The first thing he did was to bow. It showed some good manners, as he was taught. His wrinkled and damp coat was quickly put back onto his body. His shirt stuck to his skin with a plop sound, which was uncomfortable. Gideon gave a slight nod to her question,"Thank you miss." Ugh, the way he said that made him clench his jaw. Dear, he really was bad with people. If he was on better terms then there would have been more exclamation at the end of that sentence! There wasn't anything that he was carrying, so there wasn't anything to set down! Not that he would, Gideon would hate to mess up the kind lady's house.
Oh, but she was wearing a cloak. It did not look as if she had previously been outdoors, she would have been soaking if she was! But instead the lady looked warm and perfect....-ly taken care of. "Miss, are you going outside?" And indeed Gideon asked with a questioning tone, why would anyone else go out in this weather? Well, anyone other than him. He just assumed there wasn't anyone else like him. |

❀ Gideon~ Totally went over my head. xD | Her lips quirked into a warmer smile as the younger boy proceed to bow in gratitude towards her. His manners reminded her of the boys back at court that had often attempted to impress her or her sister. Cassandra knew there were no such motives here, since no one knew who she really was in Meridell. No, he simply looked happy to have found a dry place to rest to hide away for the rest of the night. She would have to hunt down some of Seth’s clothing to give the boy to change into. A good thing she had clothes for either gender tonight, since she already had another guest taking shelter with her for the night. Cassandra laughed quietly to herself before shutting the door once he had stepped in.
“It’s no trouble at all. I would hate to leave anyone out in this storm.” There was little use in attempting to venture outside now. Cassandra had simply wanted to watch the rain for a short while before going back inside. Her restlessness had not allowed her to sleep, but perhaps that was a good thing. If she had been in a deep sleep, then he would have been forced to find another place to find shelter. There was no guarantee anyone was opening their doors, though. She really should not just stand there and allow him to remain in soaked clothing and dripping in the middle of her living room.
“I intended to, but now I something else to occupy my attention. A show of good luck for both of us, I believe,” she replied cheerfully. With that said, she headed off for Seth’s room to rummage around for a change of clothing and towels to bring out for him. “The wash room is down the hall and to the right. These may be a little big for you, but I can hang your clothes out to try for the morning.” |

| Well, this had happened. Gideon wasn't sure what to do. It wasn't everyday that he was alone with someone that he didn't know. Especially late at night when there was such a magical unknown storm going about outside. Oh and he was dripping water too! Was that rude? She was smiling and looked very nice but that made him feel so much more bad about it. Neverless, he was really happy he found somewhere to stay for at least a small portion of the night. It would be a time later that Gideon was sure that he would repay this favor, because that would be something an honorable and respected man would do! What time was it even? It certainly was late. Maybe the lady could not go to sleep because of the storm outside. He couldn't either, for very obvious reasons. And yes, he was still dripping cold magic-storm water.
Since the boy didn't really know what to say, he just gave a slight nod to her. If there wasn't any consequences then Gideon would be perfectly fine with staying outside. Watching the rain was soothing. The raindrops glistened slightly against the dark and waving background, and the pitter patter noise they made was unlike any other sound out there. The only downside was when it got in his eye, and that really hurt.
Again, he didn't know what to say! For all sakes Gideon didn't even know her name! Yes it was certainly good luck for both of them though. Just to show some acknowledgement he smiled back. The nervousness made him scratch the back of his head, maybe when he was smarter he would know what to say in situations like this. Oh, and then she left. For a while the boy just stood there, it was rather awkward really. He didn't want to dampen anything with his wet hands, he had accidentally done that before with books and it was TERRIBLE. Since he wouldn't really be needing it anymore Gideon took off the dark cloak he had. The water made it look a darker shade than it really was. The folded pile was kept against his chest until the lady came back.
Putting his hands under the things she presented to him first, Gideon then looked to the hallway where she directed. "Thank you again," he said, directing his attention back to her," I really am grateful for all you've done already. Oh, and may I know your name? I thought it might be a little awkward to call you Miss for the rest of the time I'm here...." He forgot to give his own name though. |

| He seemed rather nervous the longer he stood before her. Cassandra could not help but be reminded of Seyka when she had stumbled through her doorway with the injured bird. Then again, she did not know him, and she did not believe he knew her. A part of her was tempted to tease that she would not be eating him for a late night snack, but that may only make things worse. All she could do was smile as reassuringly as she could. Cassandra doubted she would be getting back to sleep anytime soon tonight. All she could do was make sure her new charge for the night was dry and settled before she went back to her room to read for the rest of the evening. Or make the attempt to do so.
“You are very welcome,” Cassandra replied with a nod of her head. He really did enjoy keeping good manners, no? An endearing quality that made the young boy all the more adorable. He could not be more than thirteen or so, right? He was only a couple inches shorter than herself, but that did not mean much. Her height had never been that great to begin with. A small laugh escaped her when she was asked for her name. How could she have forgotten? It had been so long since she had needed to introduce herself on a regular basis. Cassandra was so used to being recognized where ever she went, or her name being announced before she entered a room.
“My name is Cassandra. You may call me Cassie, if it pleases you. And your own name?” Being called ‘Miss’ would not have been a bad thing. The term was certainly more endearing than ‘your grace’ any day of the week. “Are you hungry at all? I am sure I could make a quick sandwich after you have changed into those clothes.” |

❀ Cassandra! omg no prob <3 | A lot of people, including his brother, had told him before that he wore his emotions on his sleeve. When he was excited, he showed it, and when he was nervous, he showed that too. Gideon felt like he should loosen up, but the thing was that he didn't know how. It was an emotional thing really, and Gideon wasn't sure how to make his emotions stop doing that thing. But it looked like she understood alright, so that was okay. Gideon liked it when people understood.
When someone said anything similar to "You're welcome" it made him really really happy! Gideon grinned very widely back at her. The lady seemed to be a few years older than him, but maybe she just had a growth spurt. It would be embarrassing, since he was only starting to grow now. She sort of reminded him of princesses in those fairytales and story books. Nice, pretty, and royalty. But it wasn't like princesses lived in little old Meridell. Maybe, when he was older and more magical he would serve a princess, but it would not be anytime soon.
"Cassie,"he said to himself out loud, just to get used to it," Nice to meet you! My name is Gideon. I don't think there's anyway to shorten that." Maybe there was, but Gideon had always just been called Gideon. Just then, with the most perfect of timing, his stomach growled. It wasn't those giant growling noises that shook the whole room, but just a little rumble in his stomach. "If it wouldn't be any trouble then I guess I am hungry," he guessed,"And...I guess I'll go change now...and again thank you...." Oh no, did he trail off at the end there? He scurried off, mostly because he didn't want to leave any more drops on the floor. They were little drops, like a tiny cloud had decided to cast its fury in the living room. A multitude of little drops were left, but not enough to create a puddle.
And the clothes that fit him were big, they were probably made for someone older than him. The washroom was in a dry condition just as the living room was. Gideon despised how young and childish he looked in the mirror, the shirt was very wrinkled from having to be on his small frame and the sleeves hid his hands away. His hair and the rest of his body was mostly dried off from the towel, but it still didn't look dry. And even though the clothes were wet it was his habit to fold them, putting them in a makeshift bag from the towel. When he came out of the washroom he just sort of wandered a bit... |

❀ Gideon~ Speed post awaaaay~ | Cassandra could not stop marveling over how adorable he was. He just seemed so sweet and polite that it was a wonder she had not hugged him to death as of yet. She had a feeling that gesture would not go over all too well. She giggled to herself for now as she looked him over just a little. He still looked quite drenched and her expression turned concerned over how he kept his cloak clutched tightly against his chest. Perhaps she should have offered to draw up a warm bath for him, but that would take a few minutes to do. No doubt he would be fine drying off and slipping into the dry clothing. All of this sudden company was rather nice, though.
“A pleasure to meet you, Gideon. I am sure I could think of something if I give it enough thought.” His name did seem to lack an obvious choice of nickname. Her lips quirked into an amused smile as Gideon began to stammer over his words before scurrying off to change. Cassandra made sure the door to the wash room had closed before she began to giggle to herself. Oh, how cute that reaction was! She shook her head as she turned to rummage through the cabinet’s of the kitchen. The bread was easy enough to find and she made a light sandwich with some cheddar cheese in the middle. It was not much, but it was too late to make a full dinner.
She did take a moment to boil some water to make hot chocolate for the both of them. Drawing a warm bath was out of the question now, but a warm drink was also a good way to rid one of chills. Two steaming mugs were already placed on the table by the time Gideon had wandered out in the change of clothes. “There is a sandwich on the table along with a mug of hot chocolate. I shall start a fire in the fire place and set your clothes out to try in front of it,” she explained before taking the wet bundle from him and ushering him to the table. |

❀ Cassandra! flying in the skyyy | Now that he thought about it the way he left wasn't that well. It was like a puzzle that was broken and all the pieces were everywhere in a way. Gideon wondered if there was anyone else here, she seemed young enough to live with other people. If she was then he hoped he wouldn't disturb anyone. And there was also how she would think of a nickname. Well he would bet a somewhat-important object of his that she wouldn't! Because since he's smart he should have already been able to think of one and he couldn't so...ya. Gideon did try to keep the naturally miserable expression on his face, if it did look like that. Since other people told him he always looked worried for something he just went with that.
He sniffed the shirt he was wearing just because he was bored. It wasn't for any creepy reasons, he was just curious. It smelled like someone else. Gideon had wondered how bodies worked for there to be different scents but he thought it worked like animals. But it was probably creepy that he did that, Gideon just needed something to think about. His mind was just the type that nearly always needed to go through it.
When he found Cassie she was near the table. There were two mugs, and what looked to be steam rising out of them, on the table. And there was also food that Gideon assumed would be eaten. By himself because he was sort-of hungry. Oh but he did feel bad when she took the previous clothes he was wearing from him. "Thank you!" He said. There wasn't a lot of exclamation at the end, but enough to make it sound like it was heartless.
But sitting over there he found that it was hot chocolate. Gideon only ever had it on special occasions, so at the table he just close to him and stared at it. His hands absorbed the heat, bringing a lot of feeling back to him. |

❀ Gideon~ Just a couple more posts~ | Cassandra wondered what Gideon had been doing out so late at night. The storm was enough of a deterrent to keep any sane minded person inside. She did realize the fact she had been about to leave her home before Gideon had shown up at her door. Being sane was not something she claimed to be completely be, though. Her lips quirked into an amused smirk at the slightly insulting thought. It was a good thing to be able to laugh at one’s self. The bundle of clothing was quiet wet, so she wasted little time in lighting a fire and carefully hanging the clothes high enough to dry but not close enough to catch fire. That would be the last thing anyone needed. Hopefully it would also warm the dwelling somewhat.
At least Gideon looked quite content with his mug of hot chocolate. Cassandra wondered if she would be having another houseguest soon enough. Hopefully not, since she did not have an extra bed now, and she was not too keen on sharing her bedroom with anyone. “How about Aeon?” she suggested after a moment. A decent nickname for the most part. Sitting down at the table, she picked up her own mug of hot chocolate to warm her hands. This was going to be a long night, no? Cassandra sipped at her drink and was pleased that the liquid did not scald her tongue in the process.
“If I may ask, why were you out so late? I imagine most people are safely tucked in their homes to avoid this storm. It is certainly not a normal storm by any means.” The green moon had her worried the most. Heavy rain was one thing, but the eerie glow of the moon was dismaying. What sort of magic was at work tonight? |

| What if it wasn't okay for him to drink this. Of course this was another person's home and he had to go by the rules, and he liked hot chocolate. It was much more warm than the rain outside. The storm still sounded as heavy as when Gideon came in, which meant the green moon was probably still out. Gideon wondered for a long while about why that was. He spent a lot of time outdoors looking for anything that might be different, since he knew there was something magical in the air. But he didn't find anything. Then it started to really get stormy and he ended his searches. Then everything else happened and now he had hot chocolate.
While he was wandering in his mind he heard Cassandra behind him. Aeon as a nickname? It seemed good enough. If it was good for her then it was good with him and he was prety fine with it. "It sounds alright," he agreed. In his opinion it was just decent, but alright sounds better. When she started to sip her own drink he realized he hadn't had a drop of his own yet! For a moment he just looked at it, then slowly he brought the mug up to his lips and it was delicious. Then after two seconds he was just holding it in his hands again with some manly hot cocoa mustache above his lip.
"Well I was seeing if anything was wrong anywhere, there was just a feeling of magic in the air and with the green moon and all. It really is weird isn't it? I haven't lived long enough to see anything else like this happen before," he answered. Clearly he looked enthusiastic about it for a bit. "Do you think it means anything?" he asked, changing tone, he didn't want to ramble or leave her out. |

| Cassandra was beginning to wonder if he disliked hot chocolate. He was looking at his mug as if she had poisoned the drink. She most certainly had not, since that would be a messy affair to begin with. Was it too sweet? Sometimes people liked it too taste a little more bitter like chocolate could be at times. A wonder how anyone could enjoy such a taste, since chocolate should be sweet. Well, at least he liked the nickname well enough. Not her best thought, but it would do with how little sleep she was running on. She raised her hand to cover a yawn before setting her mug back down on the table. It seemed like she would be able to fall asleep tonight. Goddess, she hoped she could.
Gideon could feel the magic within the air as well? Cassandra closed her eyes and felt the slight thrum that sent a chill down her spine. No, something did not bode well with this coming storm. Blue eyes darkened as she lamented on what this could possibly mean. She wondered if it had to do with why she had been sent here at all. Of course not! How could a storm possibly relate to the events in Avalon? “No, this is not normal by any means. I do not believe it is a good omen of any sort,” she answered quietly. Something had to be happening in Illusia and she wondered if this storm reached across every corner of this country.
“Perhaps you would like to head to bed soon? I am sure you are tired for staying up so late. I know I am myself,” she admitted with a small yawn. Her hot chocolate had been drained and she stood from the table to place the mug in the sink. The warmth of the beverage was certainly spreading languidly through her limbs. |

| More lightning and thunder roared in the background. There were probably children all about Meridell who were hiding in their beds, or their parents beds. Gideon just wasn't afraid of thunder like them, though he could understand why. It was loud and fast, only appearing for an instant before disappearing. And it coud also kill you, as he had heard. In an instant where there was a crash Gideon could feel something cold in his back, had something happened? He didn't know. But it soothed him, he yawned, covering his mouth before courtesy, duh.
So it wasn't normal!; as Cassie's answer told. The color green could mean multiple things, good and bad. Gideon did not consider himself in a high enough position in magic to make a decision on that. But if it was something good OR bad then maybe the people of Meridell would know soon enough. Wouldn't they? Cassie seemed worried about it, as he could tell. "All there is to do is to wait and see," he said, shrugging his shoulders and finishing the rest of his hot chocolate. Really, something like this had to be powerful. And it was weird.
Her question on being tired was perfectly timed. But was it any trouble for him to stay here? "Is it really okay to stay? Oh and yes I am tired but I wouldn't want to be more trouble than I already am," he responded. His tiny form followed to the sink, manuevering around her to put his mug next to hers. |

| The thunder and lightning would hopefully not keep either of them up. Cassandra could be a heavy sleeper when she wanted to be, but she had a feeling that she would be sleeping well enough for the rest of the night. Hopefully this storm would not last past the morning hours and the town could see how much damage had been wrought. A storm like this had to leave some damage with the heavy rains and strong winds. Her bed was becoming a much more tantalizing thought with every second that passed. No doubt her cloak was also aiding in her sleepiness, since the fur lining was warming her up quite well. Now all she had to do was curl up under her covers and forget the outside world.
“That is all we can do. Hopefully the morning hours will bring a respite to this storm.” A loud crack of lighting nearly had her flinching. A good thing she had already placed her mug in the sink. Everything would be fine once she succumbed to blissful sleep. Cassandra turned tired blue eyes back onto Gideon. As if she would let him back out into the storm after having given him a change of clothing and food to eat. “Yes, it is fine for you to stay. I am not letting you leave, so you may as well settle down here for the night. It is no trouble at all,” she reassured firmly.
Cassandra lead Gideon forward to Seth’s empty bedroom and pointed the bed out to him. All of the rooms were full for the night. She smiled gently and wished the younger male a good evening before turning back to her own bedroom. The candles hand long since died down with the long hours, so she merely curled back into bed and over her covers. She let her hair down from her loose bun and settled her head on her pillow. Blackness pulled her under before she had fully settled down to sleep.
