The small girl let out a withheld breathe. Her eyes were closed as she walked the path etched into the grasses she knew as well as she knew herself. She had walked this path many times, sometimes to run an errand and sometimes to clear her head. Today she walked this path because of the later. She had to get away from home for a moment. This bothered her more than anything. She loved her home, she never wanted to leave it and yet now she found herself needing to put distance in between it and her. It was all his fault that this was happening. If it weren't for that intruder she wouldn't feel so out of place so suddenly. She kicked a pebble on the path absently, her brown eyes following it as it disappeared into the grass. A few yards ahead she spotted a red fluffy tail sticking out of the grass, waving as if it were saying hi. Her thoughtful face melted into a smile. She recognized that tail. And sure enough, out of the brush came a young red fox with a collar around his neck. Orin yipped playfully at her jumping from side to side before he took off into the brush again. He liked to follow her wherever she went and she enjoyed the company. She knew he wanted to play but she just couldn't find the energy. She was too worried about her home and her family. There was no reason to hire outside help. She planned on staying on the farm for the rest of her life. Why would she abandon her happiness to go out into a world that could easily chew her up and throw her away? She walked after Orin, who seemed to be trying in his own way to cheer her up but all he could get out of her was a small smile. ★ Open~! ★ Waaaah!

The first report contained nothing but lackluster information. Rumors about someone being pregnant, someone getting married, someone dying, and all of that were hardly what her mother wanted to hear. The woman would be getting frustrated by having no response at all, so hopefully this would assuage any irritation directed at her. The chances were slim. Slim chances were still better than none. Sighing, Lycoris raised a hand to her forehead and pressed down. Taking some time and getting out of the inn for awhile might do her some good. She had yet to wander too far, but today... today definitely felt like an all day trip. Dressed for travel with boots, a cloak, and a backpack with food, she set out. One place that came up in conversation repeatedly was a farm a few miles away from Asgard called Evergreen Acres. Setting out for there would keep her occupied for the day. Xara and Adell could handle things, so worrying about that would be a waste. The two of them already proved to be valued assets while in Ilusia; considering them incapable would be a poor decision. A figure walking what appeared to be a fox caused the princess to slow her steps. She blinked a few times to make sure she was seeing right. Two things quickly popped into her mind - the first off was why the fox didn't run away and the second was why someone would try to keep such an animal as a pet. Dogs, cats, horses? Those were good pets. A fox? That sort of animal was naturally wild and while it might be tamed due to being around people, it would always possess the qualities of a wild animal. Domesticating through years of behaviorally encouragement and breeding might give it a chance, but... Ah, she was doing it again, wasn't she? Best to rationalize later. Hesitating for a moment, the brunette lifted the hood of her cloak up and raised her hand in a slight way. "Good day."...she really did need to work on her greetings. ★ mayrah antaeus ★ popping in, hm hm~

Mayrah let her thoughts drift her away. The only reason she noticed the cloaked figure in the distance was because Orin gave a warning growl. Her brown eyes went from the path in front of her feet to the distance, where a cloaked figure approached. She couldn't tell what the figure was until they removed their hood and waved. Mayrah paused in her steps as Orin gave a yip and ran to her side where he took up a position around her legs. Orin was very good-natured on a usual day but after a few trips with Mayrah to Asgard, he quickly learned to be cautious of new people. Not everyone was as friendly to foxes as Mayrah. Especially in this area where foxes were more nuisances than friendly neighbors. Mayrah knelt and petted him and handed him a treat to keep him from fluffing up his fur. He instantly relaxed but he didn't move from where he had firmly planted himself, which meant Mayrah couldn't move forward to close the distance between her and the person who stood a little bit away from her. She gave a little wave, as she stood making sure that the back of her skirt didn't go up with her by keeping her hand on the fabric as she stood. Only then did she really get a look at the girl in front of her. She didn't look to be much older than her. There was something about her though... something that Mayrah couldn't quite make out. Still, she smiled genuinely. "Good day to you too. Where are you heading?" In this part of Crystal Coast, the citizens tended to be a bit friendly to each other and the occasional visitors. Mayrah couldn't help but start a conversation maybe because it had been awhile since she had seen someone who looked like she was around her age. As of now, the only people who frequent the farm were the inn family and the occasional passerby so that left Mayrah with only her parents, the farm animals and Orin to talk to. The only other time she really got verbal communication was when she would be in charge of going to Asgard with produce for market. Even that had become rare thanks to the "hired help"... ★ Lycoris Sotiris ★ Welcome! Would you like some tea?

"The weather appeared pleasant after the recent storms that have passed through the area. There is no set destination on my agenda for the day. Wherever the path leads me will do just fine for this trip." While it was true she didn't know exactly where she wanted to go, it was also true that this was because she didn't know what she would find. If she tried to go to Volos or Meridell, she would need others with her to make the journey. It would be too difficult to explain to her companions that she could make it on her own as long as she had a map or a guide. Though, if she had a guide, she wouldn't exactly be alone, would she? "I did not mean to startle you." The sincerity was there, so she did not feel the need to 'pretty' her words up, as she considered it. Sometimes being more relaxed with speech could get the message across easier. "Or... your companion, as it was." That brought up an entirely different thing on her mind. No, best to not think about it too much. Steer clear of that to prevent curiosity from- A bit too late for that. "That creature... it is a fox, yes? Is it tame or is it domesticated?" Lycoris raised one hand to her cheek, letting her fingers curl as she did so, and let out a tiny little puff sound. "It is very unusual to see a fox out here at this time of the day. With so much farmland around, I imagine the farmers have much difficulty with these creatures."★ mayrah antaeus ★ only if it comes with cookies too +w+

The small talk was something that she only really dealt with when dealing with the merchants of Asgard. Her father dealt with the money so the merchants dealt with him in that regard and would occasionally strike up a conversation with the young girl who brings the goods. Mayrah wasn't very good at small talk but she gave a friendly smile and nodded her agreement about the weather. She wondered what would make this girl leave her home to take to the road. Mayrah herself could never picture wanting to leave. Which is why she was having such a hard time right now. She shook her head and waved her hand as if to dismiss her next statement. "Don't worry, if anything startled me at that moment it was Orin responding how he did." She shot a glance to her furry friend who yipped as if he knew he were being talked about. And as it would seem, the stranger was curious about Orin. She smiled wearily. "Yes, Orin is a fox and he's tame enough I guess." She rubbed the top of her head as she spoke and glanced down at the fox again. "Though sometimes I think he sees more like his mother than his master." As if on cue, Orin seemed to lose interest in their conversation and unwrapped himself from around her legs and began walking a distance away to play around with some high grasses. Her gaze followed him. "Yeah, he isn't very well liked with other farmers but since we adopted him on our farm we haven't had many encounters with other foxes, except for the occasional girlfriend of course." She smiled at that statement. He had only recently gotten attention from the female of his species, though Mayrah has seen that the fox doesn't quite know how to respond. In truth, she is scared that he will run off one day and she won't see him again. All she can do is watch over him until he decides to rejoin his kind. She was more like Orin's mother than she had thought... ★ Lycoris Sotiris ★ You should never have tea without cookies!

The youth lived on a farm? That sort of thing in itself was fascinating in some ways and terribly dull in others. On one hand, the work always would keep a person occupied and interested, while on the other it would wear someone down greatly. A lot of the work would be painfully difficult, from cooking to cleaning to tending to the land and animals. Every day it would be up with the sun and down with it, becoming a grueling process for those not used to it. Someone like herself would never be able to manage that kind of lifestyle. In another life, perhaps, but not this one. If nothing else, the fact that the farm girl did not recognize her helped in the long run. It allowed her to go without being noticed and have a slight edge. The fox losing interest and wandering off helped to relax her a bit as well, so making the most of the situation while she was out would be for the best. If Xara and Adell saw her stressing over the slightest things like interacting with people from Ilusia, they might find it downright comical. That was the thing, wasn't it? She just didn't really know how to interact with people from this country yet. People from the inn were one thing - people she met out in her wanderings were completely new, uncertain territory. Strange. Back home, putting on a front came easy, even if it was a cold one. Here, though, things felt like they were so much more difficult. "What do people do for fun out here?" The same question had been asked in the past. Asking someone close to her age, someone of her own sex, could lead to a different result. "You are out here for a reason, yes? So what is there to do besides walking with a small fox such as him and his female companions?"★ mayrah antaeus ★ tea and cookies sound so good right now

The question caught her off-guard. What to do for fun? She thought about what she did in an average day and found herself amazed. She didn't actually go out and have fun that often. Sure, she had fun caring for the animals and watching the baby animals have their learning curve moments. Like when a baby horse sniffs at the door only to have it open and send them neighing back to their mother's side. She thought about what kind of answer this person would probably expect and found herself at a lose. "Well... I just tend to try and find something fun in what I do every day, although I do hang out at the beach a lot to go swimming and collecting seashells." She smiled apologetically. "I might not be the best person to ask since I love working on the farm so much that I consider it fun. Orin is probably the funnest out of us two." Orin yipped before taking off in another direction. Without having him near, she felt a bit more exposed. She wondered if she was looking more and more like a country bumpkin to this girl. She found herself wondering what her life was like. Did she have a lot of friends in the city? Did she love her home like Mayrah loves hers? Only then did it occur to her that they were having a conversation and hadn't even introduced themselves yet. She offered her hand to the other before saying. "Oh, I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Mayrah Antaeus. Nice to meet you, Ms..." ★ Lycoris ★ I really want a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie now Q^Q

And there it was, right as she expected. Coming to the entire name debacle would happen eventually. Why she thought she could avoid it, even she didn't entirely know. Her name was well known throughout Ilusia as the Princess of Heim. If her face and form wasn't recognized, her name usually was. True, there were some people named after her, but the last name never matched up. Getting out of it seemed like a fool's errand since she decided before arriving not to disguise herself with an alias. Why did it matter so much? ...simply because the girl didn't recognize her. Having someone she could possibly return to that would not be too guarded with her appealed to her in many ways. Chewing on her lower lip for a long moment, she came to a quick decision and moved her hands to rest behind her back. She stood up straighter, tilting her head to the side in a slight quirk. "My name is Lycoris Sotiris." The full weight of those words felt much heavier than they used to. A name was just a name, yet it defined her in every single way. Even if she did not mention her mother like Holly Devanti suggested, it would still bring negative thoughts to most people she met due to sheer association. Avoiding that truth was an impossibility. "I have come to Ilusia with some associates on official business. Since you are not in the middle of something important, would you be willing to talk to me more? This is my first time to explore this far out of Asgard and I might have more luck speaking to people out here." While her speech hadn't completely relaxed, there were some definite changes. Taking it each day as it came was all anyone could expect of her. ★ mayrah antaeus ★ subway has amazing cookies <33

Mayrah's smile faltered at her name. Had she heard that right? This girl in front of her was Lycoris Sotiris? What could she be doing out here? Well, she did say she was just wandering around but could that really be true? The princess of Heim had found her way to the Crystal Coast. From looking at her, Mayrah was surprised, a look that was visible on her face. She hadn't expected a princess to look so usual. She wasn't quite sure how she should address her now. Then there was the fact that her mother wasn't exactly the most friendly of people. How could someone who seemed to friendly be the daughter of such a horrid person? It was baffling. Mayrah seemed to recover from her shock, though it took her a second to do so. If Lycoris had been polite and friendly up until this point then Mayrah had no reason to change her attitude towards her. If her title mattered all that much to her than she would have corrected how Mayrah was addressing her but she hadn't. That was good enough for Mayrah to assume that she didn't have to be formal to her. It wasn't like she personally went and killed an entire castle full of people. "Official business? That sounds very... boring." She gave her a smile, a genuine one. "No wonder you had to get away to find some fun. Though you may not have come to the best place for it. And I'm fine with talking though I doubt I'd know anything useful to you." She rubbed the top of her head as she said this, a doubtful smile on her face. And in all honest, she was speaking the truth. Mayrah hardly ever left home except for her occasional market trips but that was work so she never really got mixed up in the current happenings. Suddenly she felt that maybe she should listen in on the gossip at the market more. Maybe then she could actually have more conversations. ★ Lycoris Sotiris ★ I got a whole box of their macadamia cookies once, ate them all in 1 night!

"It is all right if you do not know much. No one so far has." Resisting the urge to sigh, Lycoris started to walk forward at a leisurely pace. She found her eyes trailing to where the fox, Orin, had wandered off to, then the path back in front of her. Where to begin? As much as she hated to admit it, the questions she often asked people (the view willing to speak to her) were quite ridiculous in their own right. If any members of that family did survive, who would be willing to reveal that? Loyalists still existed; it would be a foolish notion to believe anything else. "There have been whispers among certain circles that the incident from nearly two decades ago may have more to it than what is known. I was quite young when it happened, so I do not remember a great deal of the details from that night myself, besides my father tending to me due to a fever I had." Back then fevers and sicknesses were quite common for her. They stopped when she was around five, which made her training much easier. Focusing magic with a pounding headache didn't do much good. "Some believe that there are people who escaped the tragedy that occurred. Whether this is the truth or not, I do not know. That is the official business I have been sent here on. To discover if there are any survivors of the royal family." Being honest with it tended to get more information. It also caused people to begin speaking about it to others, which is something she found more helpful. Rumors started to fly that way. "Do you know anything about it? If you do not, there is no shame in that. I am mostly curious."★ mayrah antaeus ★ I-I love macadamia cookies, ffff +w+
