WILLIAM HAMILITON UNKNOWN WINTER SWORD OF LUNE | HETEROSEXUAL SIX FEET TWO INCHES ELF CAPRICORN |
personality
What does a man want when he has enough money to buy anything? That's one of the first things people notice about William Hamiliton - he's rich. Heck, even his name sounds rich. As the only child of noble couple from long ago, he was educated in a variety of different subjects. Combat, literature, economics, and etiquette come naturally to him. Studying foreign languages and becoming lost in a good book are things that occupy his free time, of which he has little of. A little known secret of his is that he also learned how to cook from the chef at his childhood mansion.
William is a rather dispassionate individual. He goes through the motions, everything becoming routine, and speaks his opinion when asked like he is stating the weather. Getting a rise or reaction from him can be a difficult challenge. There are two emotions he often displays - aggravation and boredom. Slipping between the two easily, it is hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. He's a closed book with a lock on it, that's for sure, and he doesn't let people in. If he can keep up pretenses, then that is good enough. That said, he is very good at playing the part when he needs to. A smile, kiss on the hand, and charming conversation can go a long way with some people.

history
What is the measure of a man? This is something that William has tried to define his entire life. From a young age, his parents were only going through the motions. In secret - or what they assumed was secret - they saw other people, only putting on the pretense of a happy marriage in order to continue their public image. The fighting got worse as time went on. Even as a child, he understood that the best way the situation for one of them could go was the other mysteriously vanishing or turning up dead. Did it surprise him when his father's body was found in a lake not too far from their mansion in Heim? Not at all. Did it surprise him when the cause of death was discovered to be poison, supposedly laced by a rival? Sometimes he wished it did surprise him.
Groomed by his mother, he took over the business at the age of twenty five. Importing, exporting, trade... it lead him to be a man of travel. His tastes grew finer as he aged, his life getting better with time just as wine did. At the age of seventy five, he married and had three children. For the first time in his life, he understood what it meant to be completely and totally lost in happiness, and it terrified him. Having people he cared for that much... it would hurt when he lost them.
Much to his dismay, he did loose them. A fire took the life of his wife and children, destroying his fragile happiness in a single night. No one discovered how the fire happened and since he did not press for an investigation, it was left alone. For many years after it, William threw himself obsessively into his work, making more money and becoming a more prominent figure in society. This is when everything grows dim for him. After that, William remembers someone after him, something happening, and... it is all fragmented pieces. What he knows of himself took years for him to remember, and after sleeping so long, he doubts he will ever truly remember what has happened to him.
