Donovan leans far on the gruff and rough side. The old saying that redheads have fiery tempers and sharp tongues totally applies to him, and it isn't hard to set off his temper. There are just some people in the world that he can't stand, and he feels that he doesn't need to make any secret of it. Donovan isn't the type that generally tends to socialize, and if someone pisses him off enough, he isn't against beating the everliving crap out of whoever it was that angered him. He is fully aware of the fact that he has such bad anger issues. He tries to work on it, but nothing has been terribly helpful thus far.
He's animalistic in the ways that he does a lot of things, which, those that know beastmen could potentially see the resemblance. Having been a loner practically his entire life, he tends to stick to himself. This is part of the reason why he's bitter and jaded. For the most part, he feels as though people don't deserve respect because he's never gotten any. Trying to be respectful hasn't worked out for him terribly well, so he doesn't even bother trying anymore. Donovan has the tendency to run his mouth in many different social situations, and it's gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion. There has yet to be someone who's entered Donovan's life that has been able to satiate and sooth the pent up anger and aggression that's built over his lifetime. He knows what causes his anger, and the more he thinks about it, the worse he is sometimes.

Misfortune always seemed to find him one way or another. At the age of six, his parents were killed, by what he assumes were hunters. Donovan went on to live with his grandparents. Although they were the parents of his loving and kind mother, they did not possess the same traits. Donovan tended to stay locked up in his room or out of the house. They were perpetually irritated with him, would yell at him, and hit him because they felt he deserved it. When Donovan reached the age of nine, his grandfather passed away. Personally, he thought the old man deserved it, and he had expressed as much. At the age of eleven, his grandmother killed herself.
Needless to say, Donovan had been put through the wringer, and it was really no surprise that his attitude and behavior were less than stellar. He had always felt different, and because of that, it was hard for him to make friends. His life hadn't been easy, and that angered him. Because of his anger, that didn't make his life any easier. School had never been something that he was terribly fond of. He had difficulties concentrating, and getting along with people, clearly, wasn't his strong suit. The only thing he really discovered was that he was good with his hands - fixing and repairing things. Early on, he dropped out of school and tried to make a living with what he knew he was good at. At this point, he moved to Asgard. It was much easier to start a life there. It was also during this time he started doing drugs and smoking heavily. The only way he had been able to pay for it was from the money that had been left behind from his parents and grandparents. His supply on money was running out quickly.
As Donovan got older, it was really no surprise that trouble had always managed to find him. He was fired from a few jobs because of his attitude. He had an inexpressible hatred for rules and those that make them, he feels no reason to hide that. For those reasons exactly, he has also wound himself up in jail for things such as assault, disturbing the peace, public intoxication, shoplifting, and many others. The time to clean up his life a bit did finally happen to a degree. While he still smokes cigarettes, he's leaned away from drugs, and he's trying to keep it that way. The addiction for cigarettes has become so bad, he suffers painful migraines, and that's just about the only thing that gets rid of them. In an attempt to find a good job, he keeps his tail and ears tucked away as much as he possibly can.
