The forest was cool that afternoon as sunlight filtered through the trees. The sun the escaped through the leaves danced across the forest floor, lighting it up as she stepped further down the path she had taken. Her usual basket was held at the crook of her elbow, canvas bag slung over her shoulder. Warm blonde hair fell loose around her shoulders as she moved, her tail tucked about her waist. A trip to return to Volos with her father had been taken that afternoon for his business, and Briar herself had slipped away to find items of her own she needed to make her jewelry. Finding the shops lacking in what is was she searched for, the beastwoman had changed from the slender sundress she had dawned to a pair of leggings underneath a shirt with a feminine tunic shirt. Shoes appropriate for the long walk had been worn as well, making her trek through the old familiar mountains all the more easy. No stranger to the area she had found herself in, she had already sound herself stopped by quite a few people along the way. Quite a few of them had been boys or people she had crafted for in the past. Already she had quite a reputation for her work and she was proud of every little bit of that. "Now, if I remember correctly, it's around here..." Pushing herself up onto one of the small ledges in the mountainside, Briar walked around it. Slipping her hand inside one of the mined cracks, she pulled loose a piece of ore that shined in the glistening sun. "This will be just perfect for what I need."★ ailonwy ★ rrp shiny things prompt go~

The feeling of not being alone reached her before even the words did. Her ears twitched as they caught the soft sounds of someone walking the mountain path behind her. Yet it was mostly ignored for the first part. No danger had been felt in the movements, and it was hardly strange to find someone on the beautiful, yet foggy mountain. Casting a glance back over her shoulder at the voice, Briar took in the white haired appearance of the other female. Her eyes lidded at a sight even she could not pretend to ignore. Even if they had never spoken privately, not knowing the chief's daughter would have been idiotic. Her father had worked with the man before. Despite the move, such things were not hard to forget. "That would be this." The beastwoman held up the shining ore to allow the other to see. Slipping it inside her basket, she took a step forward and jumped gracefully off the ledge she had climbed up on. Her hair and tail floated down after her, falling back into place. "I need something good enough to use to make decent jewelry, after all. That much is obvious."Briar's eyes lidded as she looked over the curious female, cocking her head to the side. Her arms folded. "So, to what do I owe the pleasure? It's not like daddy's little girl to venture out on her own often, is it?"★ ailonwy ★ mjrn thread makes me happy~

Ailonwy was beginning to question her wisdom on allowing her curiosity to get the better of her. Socializing was not her strong suit and many of the beastman of Volus recognized her on sight, anyway. It would be rude of her to simply walk away, so she stayed where she was. Her head tilted to the side as she noticed the other girl hold up and ore for her to see. It was rather pretty to behold and she could understand why some people liked to collect such stones. She had the feeling that she should know the girl before her, but remembering faces and names was not something she held an interest in. Ailonwy’s social life consisted mostly of her father, brother, and Jamie and she was content with that.
The other girl was rather graceful as she placed the ore into her basket and jumped from the ledge she had been perched on. Amber eyes narrowed somewhat in thought at the remark. Her lack of socializing did not make her completely ignorant. She mildly wondered if she was trying to be baited in some way. All Ailonwy did was clasp her hands together and smile politely. Her father had raised to her conceal any ill feelings behind a mask and that was what she would do. Besides, the other girl had been nice enough to show her what she had collected.
All she felt was mild amusement at the words that could be taken as insulting. “No, not especially. I wished to enjoy the nice weather after that storm from a few days ago,” she answered. “I was planning to walk the rest of this path upward. I would not mind the company if you need to search for more stones.” With that in mind, Ailonwy smiled before pivoting on her heel and following the mountain path before her. | Tag: Briar~ Notes: Yesh, our first thread in forever~! |

So that was how this little game was going to be played. In that case, she had no qualms rising to the occasion. The girl before her was just as popular as herself, and being shown up in that way was by no means in her plans for today. It would make the trip certainly more amusing than she had planned it. Seeing how this would go would make sure boredom stayed itself. "That's fine with me. I was already heading that way anyway." Part of the truth was that she indeed was going to take that route. If she had left it at that and gone her own way, that would have been like submitting to the chief's daughter. She couldn't have that, now could she? "It's been a while since I've been out here as it is, so I need to get all I can while I'm out here."Having been out the the limelight of Volos and instead living in Asgard had it's drawbacks, she was sure. Yet she simply couldn't think of any. The move her family had taken was one she thoroughly enjoyed, and the people there were much more interesting than the small village of beastmen. It meant she got more attention. "Is a walk all you had in mind, or was there more?" Her brow arches as she walked aside Ailonwy, keeping her arms folded under her bust. "I take it you won't mind the detour into the mines?"★ ailonwy ★ I knoooow

Ailonwy stifled the urge to giggle, since she did not think it would be taken well. This was why she limited her socializing to just Jamie much of the time. Many of the girls her age seemed to be more interested in themselves or acting better than one another. Of course, she should not judge the older girl too quickly. It would be rude of her to do so without even knowing her name. It seemed like this walk would prove more interesting than she had thought it would. Ailonwy was quite glad to she decided against wearing her more traditional styled sandals, since the heels would have made this trek much more uncomfortable.
“I’m glad, then,” she replied with a light smile. Interacting like this was a little nerve wracking, but she was confident enough that she could handle it. Surely the older girl would not act too rudely, right? Again, she was judging before she should. This was why Ailonwy preferred to keep to herself most of the time. Being polite and cordial was easy enough in passing and in front of the higher ranking beastman of the village when her father called her to play hostess. To those her own age? Perhaps she would have been better off throwing herself into a body of water for of merpeople. Ailonwy resisted the urge to giggle at the absurd thought again.
“I do not mind if that is what you need to do. I should have asked earlier, but what is your name? I’m sure my own is obvious,” she admitted with a sheepish smile. More people seemed to know her name than she knew theirs. Ailonwy hoped the other girl would not take her last statement the wrong way, though. | Tag: Briar~ Notes: Let's see if Ai and Briar can bond well. :'D |

"It is more a matter of needing to do it then wanting." Her fingers threaded through her hair as she walked. The sunlight continued filtering through the trees and mountains as the forest was slowly left. The path up the mountain was narrow, but the day clearer than it had been. The fogginess the mountain was known for seemed slight that day. "I won't be heading that far in. You'd be surprised what people leave behind when mining."Rounding one of the corners of the path, Briar slipped her hand into the bag carried on her shoulder. A small decorated notebook was pulled out and flipped open. A list lay written across the page, marking all her secret spots where she liked to gather her material to make jewelry. At the thought, a thought occurred to, causing a smirk to slip onto her lips as they curved into a smile. "My name is Briar Desiree, and you are right. I do know yours. I would have to be some sort of idiot not to, especially considering our fathers worked together once." While the words did have her usual confident edge to them, they were hardly insulting. It was the truth, right? Turning her gaze from her list to Ailonwy, she continued. "After I am done here, I plan on using these to make jewelry. If you are interested, I could come up with something for you as well." After all, could she ask for better advertisement? ★ ailonwy ★ as long as she knows she's top... dog... "So, tell me, with that in mind what sort do you prefer...?" Keeping it civil during the trip through the mountain might as well have been something to do. While caring about the opinions of others was not a trait she tended to lead towards, if ever, the last thing she needed was to make an enemy of the chief's daughter. Not that she had been outright unpleasant so far by any means, but it was something to consider. "Judging from the looks of things..." Briar took a moment to study her current traveling companion. Amber eyes roamed over the form of the other, taking in her ears, the curves that adorned her body, and the way she carried herself as she walked. With that sort of opinion in mind, it became easier to judge. "I would take you as the type to prefer something simple, yet charming. Nothing too gaudy.""Something like... an anklet of sorts, to go with the traditional clothing you tend to wear. Ours ears are too much of a pain to even try making for with how sensitive they are." Threading her fingers through her hair, she continued as they walked. They had plenty of time. "Even a toe ring or bracelet. A necklace is a good start, but it strikes me as far to typical for you."★ ailonwy ★ it does not!

What would she prefer? Ailonwy did not own many pieces of jewelry, nor did she own many pieces. She only had a few necklaces and bracelets that had been passed to her after her mother’s death. Her clothing was more ornate than her jewelry, which she preferred. Versatile kimonos that allowed for easy maneuvering and pleasant designs. Even her footwear was simple, since she tended to wear sandals or walk barefoot. No, she could not be considered stylish in the sense that Briar appeared to be. Ailonwy only wore her hair ribbons with the bells sewn on each and every day, since she considered them to be cute. The chime when she turned her head or walked was rather quiet since her hearing was sensitive to begin with.
Amber eyes widened a fraction when she noticed Briar looking her up and down. No doubt it was to think of a flattering piece, but the assessing look was still disconcerting. Ailonwy kept her gaze forward as a faint blush colored her cheeks. The urge to fidget was a strong one, but she kept her arms relaxed by her side and tried not to think too much about Briar looking her over. After a moment, she glanced over at the older girl as her blush faded away. “Quite astute of you. I do prefer simpler pieces,” she said with a small smile. Briar appeared to be quite good in knowing what her potential customers would like and prefer.
An anklet sounded rather appealing, since her feet were bare much of the time. Earrings were out of the question altogether. Her ears twitched uncomfortably at the thought of having a needle pierce through the fur and skin. Ailonwy would leave such practices for the other races. “An anklet sounds wonderful. I have enough necklaces and a bracelet would annoy me too much. A toe ring would be lost within an hour, since I only wear sandals when I go outside the village.” Toe rings just sounded rather odd to begin with. Why would she wear jewelry on her feet that would become dirty and chafe her skin? | Tag: Briar~ Notes: I didn't see this, I'm sorry. ;A; |

Judging what would fit the fairer haired beastwoman had been a simple enough task. From a young age she had taken after her mother, sharing her eye for detail and developing her own taste for what she found interesting and appealing. All it had taken was that simple look over the other to tell. Hair that fell naturally in a way that let it dance with the wind told her the other didn't spend much time agonizing over a brush or hair care. Nails taken care of yet not painted spoke volumes that the other was happy in her skin and didn't feel the need to doll herself up even with the high expectations she must have had. Twin ribbons of smooth fabric with small, delicate gold bells dawning them gave her the sense of delicacy or femininity. Then her traditional clothes that dawned a Romuda theme... no, it was not hard to tell at all. "Then it is settled," Briar nodded to herself as they neared the entrance to what was her own destination for the day. It was a smaller cave hidden from the eyes of passerbies taking the path. "All that remains is to find a stone you like."★ ailonwy ★ made her blush <3

The itself was no secret. When she had first moved out of the home of her parents, her father had tipped her off of the location without completely giving it away. The small enclosure was off the path with only one small entrance, and was often overlooked due to the vines that usually covered up the opening from prying eyes. It had been mentioned that she would find the location "most useful" in her new business, and indeed she had. There was no harm in letting Ailonwy see. Even with her being the chief's daughter, Briar had doubts that the girl would go and blab off to her father or anyone else of the secret location. Not when she seemed to enjoy the view as much as she had. While she herself picked materials from all over, even she couldn't deny the crystals here had alluring pull. Picking up a stray crystal that had found itself in the middle of the walkway as she walked, Briar moved over to where Ailonwy knelt, examining the topaz there as she brushed her hair over her shoulder. "That shouldn't be too hard to work with, not at all. Topaz, hm...?" Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a small tool that would extract it without damage, slipping a glove on. "Well, we may as well get started."★ ailonwy ★ how about cassandra~?

Extracting crystals in the way she did was not a grueling process. She would have snorted at the thought if it was. To think, her doing manual labor without someone along with her to do the work for her. Fayt or Wynter would have been good for that, but neither had come along. The tool in her hand alone would be enough without having to worry about damaging the stones or even herself. It was a simple yet effective process that she was glad to have been taught. "Oh, there's no need to worry about that." The amber-eyed blonde let her painted lips draw upwards at the thought. Slipping her hand back into her bag, a second tool of the same style was brought out and offered over. "This is easy for just about anyone to use. Stones out in open view like this require nothing else."The silver took had a pick attached to it that was very much like a wine bottle opener. Another part seemed like it was made to fit around the width of the crystal and could be changed according to size. A few twists, from the looks of it, was all it would take to pull the gems from the soft cave wall. "If this was a real mine it would take much more. Thankfully these walls are not as old or are as solid as the others." Slipping her own around a clear gem, she slipped the rod in beside the gem. All it took was three twists and the small rock, fitting neatly in her palm, was extracted. "It's simple. Lucky for me, if it was any harder, I would have had to have brought along someone to do this for me."★ ailonwy ★ maaaaaybe~
