When you lived in a rural area like Volos, rumors tended to spread quickly due to there being nothing else to do. Rumors of a festival of sorts had drifted into Volos like a flash fire. One person spoke of them, and then they told someone else, until the whole village was in a buzz about it. Poor Jamie had overheard some people talking about it, but it was so far away. Meridell... Where the elves and faeries lived. She had never even stepped foot outside of the mountains of Fairmist. But oh, how she wanted to go to this festival! The pouting kitty girl sat on top of a building with her legs dangling over the edge. She had a small bag of dried fruits and nuts and was plucking a couple out of the bag every so often. The sky was a bright blue with fluffy clouds to drift by, if they could be seen through the trees. Jamie would have normally loved this beautiful day, but today it just felt so bitter. Bitter like the fruit she had just taken a bite of. With a small noise of disgust, she spit it out onto the ground below, not looking at what she was aiming at. With a grumble, she flopped back and rest on her hair. She had enough of it to make a suitable pillow for the time being. She continued to munch and chew on her snack as she pouted the day away. ★ needed to post with the jamz~ ★ open

HERE I SIT UPON THE INVISIBLE THRONE
"Ah... having a poor time of things, shall I guess?"
Hardly had the little chunk of fruit falling downward gone amiss, considering it had nearly collided with his head. Though even as it was, it had collided with his foot, but that was, thankfully, a more minor issue. All he needed to do was kneel down, flick it off, rub what little juice had imposed its way upon his shoe off, and be done with it. Sure, some slight amount remained upon the light layer of fur that found its way over parts of his hands reaching a bit beyond his wrists, an extra animal-like feature beyond the ears and tail that he was simply born with, but it was still better than dealing with something in his hair, or worse, his ears. At least he could easily see it.
But those were just his minor issues, likely paling in comparison to the girl upon the nearby roof. No more had the fruit escaped his eyes than the grumbling escaped his ears, though all he yet saw looking up were legs. Well, considering he didn't desire risking his lute upon his back to quickly climb up the building, that would just have to do for now, and the girl would just have to be fine with it, he supposed. It wasn't like he was seeing anything... compromising, at least.
"If I didn't know any better judging by your higher vantage point, I'd say you're either trying to get away from something or perhaps someone, or merely trying to better see something beyond this place. Am I around the mark yet?" he inquired, affording himself a cheerful grin upon his lips.
Couldn't have a girl sitting around being gloomy, could he?

In the dream, she was chasing something up the mountain. It was something that she knew she had to catch, something that was driving her so hard that it almost felt like her name was on its breath, in its very being. All she had to do was get it and she could understand. In the dream, her mind registered where she was entering-- a settlement of people with ears like that of animals and tails to accompany them. In the living world, she was jolting awake in the village that harbored the beastmen. Holly had only ever been to Volos once, and that was when she was fourteen. She had broken her wrist there, so maybe that was the reason why she remembered it so vividly in her dream, but, when she woke up, it was almost like waking up into another dream. She didn't recognize where she was, she didn't comprehend the insane urge to find the whisper in her dream, calling out to her harshly in her mind. When had she fallen asleep? And the weirdest thing was... She knew she hadn't drifted into unconsciousness in Volos, for the last location she could remember was her inn. With a pounding headache, she paced her way around. She had an idea of where she was, but the idea of it just didn't sound right. Like it needed to be corrected or looked up. The sound of voices guided her, drawing her in while also making her cautious. "Sorry... To intrude," she didn't realize how drowsy and dazed her voice sounded, "But could you tell me where I am?"★ excuse me while i add another person to this, mwuahahaa

As soon as Jamie heard the voice, she sat up and peered over the edge of the rooftop. Of course it was a beastie, and he had such nice pretty blue ears and fur and hair. Jamie smiled catlike, almost forgetting about her previous grumblings. As long as there were people around, Volos wasn't too bad~ She waved at the boy for a moment before turning her gaze out to the landscape. "I guess you could say I was just enjoying the view~"Then another voice floated into her kitty ears. Jamie's smile grew wider, though maybe a bit concerned as well as the other girl seemed a little out of it. "You are in Volos, non-beastie!" Yep, she was not a beastie. Aside from the fact that the girl did not know what Volos was, she also did not have that beastie smell.

HERE I SIT UPON THE INVISIBLE THRONE
'Just enjoying the view,' hm? Well, the girl said that, but he wasn't entirely inclined to believe that. No matter, he'd probably figure it out soon enough.
Though it seemed there were other things to attend to as well; more so, another person. A rather exhausted- and lost-looking one, at that. That most certainly wouldn't do.
"Indeed... up here in the mountains, I'd say you're a fair way from home," he affirmed. "But considering the situation, with my feline friend up there seeming fairly gloomy just earlier and you seeming quite out of sorts, perhaps I could treat you both to a little food and music?" he offered, motioning with his tail curling upward to the lute presently strung across his back on the latter point of 'music.' After all, he wouldn't carry one around if he didn't know how to play, would he? Well... others might, perhaps, but not one so practical as him.
"And it will in fact be my treat, I insist; even my cooking, which I promise isn't bad, if you so desire. After all, I'd hardly be a gentleman if I wasn't willing to do at least that much for a pair of lovely young ladies who seem like they might need such things, would I?" he added, chuckling lightly and allowing a slightly playful grin to come over his features, along with a light bow. Yes, he could easily be called a free spirit, a charmer; things he put a fair deal of stock in since leaving his homeland, so far as he'd never actually call it that.
"I go by Lance Rayvis, by the way; might I ask your names? I might have already known them did I not tend to travel here and there so much," he curiously inquired.
Not that he didn't already know them, but they didn't need to know that. Etiquette and not letting slip his own personal secrets, after all.

So she was in Volos. While that cleared her mind a bit as to where she was precisely, it still didn't answer why she was there or how she even got there in the first place. Fayt or Wynter wouldn't have pulled a stunt like that, even when they were children. The only thing that made sense was probably magic, but she never had anything that could do that. The expanse of her knowledge was limited to water. While her mind tried to work over just what caused it, Holly smiled and put on her polite voice for the beastmen that had been kind enough to talk to her. "Haha, non-beastie I am," she shook her head. A glance at the other two made her relax a bit more as she realized that they were relatively around the same age as her, give or take a few years. "My name is Holly Devanti."
She resisted the urge to bring up if the other two had seen anything weird, like a person carrying her up there or a monster carrying her up there or a giant bird or... Holly nodded her head to Lance. "I don't see why not. As long as you don't have meat in your food." It was only until after she said that did she think about how long she might have been out. Would her family be worrying? ★ humdeedum

Ooh, music and food~ Jamie's mouth pursed into an "o" shape as she stared down at the two with curiosity. What an interesting beastie. She usually knew most of the beasties in Volos, but he didn't seem familiar. Maybe he didn't live here. That was the decision she came to as she gathered her legs and sat criss-crossed. A wide smile then formed, and she held her little baggy in the air. "I also have some dried fruits and nuts!"Jamie then pushed herself off of the roof and landed on the ground with a surprising amount of grace. Granted, she was a cat beast, and cats usually landed on all fours.. But Jamie was reckless sometimes, so it was a miracle when she didn't get hurt. She popped up immediately after and tilted her head with a giggle. "I'm Jamie! Nice ta meet'cha both!" Her gaze flicked over to Holly... Holly with the hair. She nearly squealed when she saw how much hair Holly had. There was another person in this world who (hopefully) felt her pain. She took one hand and started to flip Holly's hair about, especially the parts that were braided. "Holly, Holly~" she chimed, "Do you have a hard time in the morning because of your hair?"The kitty let her hand drop, and suddenly she flipped her head down so that her mane of hair covered her face as she drew back up. "I have so much hair I don't know what to do with it! Except maybe be a lion. Raaawwwrrr!" Cue lifting her free hand up to mimic claws, and her mouth snarled lightly in a playful way. There was no way Jamie was like that for real. She pushed her hair out of her eyes and looked over to Lance. "What'cha gonna play for us?"

No meat? Well, so she asked, so it would be. It wasn't as though he had any particular preferences, anyway; anything was better than the meager food scraps he'd grown up with.
"If it's no meat the lady desires, then such is how it shall be," he affirmed with a little nod, only to watch the... for lack of any other term, antics of the young beastgirl curiously.
"Haha... nothing a panther like myself can do, certainly; hair likes to stay far too short for that," he chimed in a little. "As to music, I suppose something reasonably cheerful; one of the many tunes I've picked up during my... childhood in foreign lands. My residence is this way if you two so desire, though it may be just slightly dusty since I often leave it to wander, else I can treat you at one of the local restaurants that serve less meat than anything else," he offered, slinging the lute on his back fairly quickly up and around such that it rested properly within his hands. Thus without really wasting a single beat, he began to play, as promised something cheerful, while he awaited what the two young ladies presently in his company might prefer.
If only the overall situation within which he learned the tune was even slightly cheerful, but he couldn't have everything.

She couldn't quite remember if beastmen were always so cheerful or friendly. It certainly didn't work in Briar's instance as that girl had the sharpest tongue she knew of as well as the bluntness of a hammer. Beastmen at Volos, though? Holly couldn't recall her last visit to the village being quite as welcoming. Of course, she had caused a bit of commotion with her bawling about a broken bone. She blinked, looking at Jamie and smiling softly. "Well, I do a good job at keeping it thinned out so I don't get headaches and I do keep it in a large braid for when I go to bed so it's not too unmanageable. My friend taught me that." Because the girls with a lot of hair had to stay together and give advice to each other somehow. While something cheerful might not have been her first pick for a song, the beat was easy enough to feel without a percussion line and it wasn't hard to figure out that Lance was a skilled player. She gently tapped her foot and bobbed her head in time, but something was missing. It wasn't something that needed to be brought up, as it wasn't too terribly important at the time, but it was still mildly bothering. Something missing or something she just wanted to hear...? ★ so so SO sorry for the lateness!
