Everything hurt. It hurt really bad and whining about it wasn't going to do him any good. His trip to Asgard, which should have only taken about a day with the wagon and horses he had, ended up taking nearly a full week. Things got hectic when he got distracted by what Asgard had to offer, the pretty garden just a few miles from it, and a few odd jobs he took to get enough money to purchase the things he wanted to bring back. Getting the crap kicked out of him and having a timeline on his life didn't help anything either, but hey, who was paying that close attention to the little details? So finally... finally... Meridell was within sight. A sigh of relief escaped him as he explained to the man why he was delayed. It didn't do much good - being so late meant his payment was forfeit. Good thing he took on those odd jobs after all. Hugging the brown paper bag to his chest, Elwyn limped along the dirt paths. His wounds were dressed poorly and the scent of the sea clung to him, leaving sea salt all over his skin from not being properly washed off. Those things could wait until he got back and explained why he was so late. It did occur to him that Tempest wouldn't even notice his absence. It wasn't like they knew each other that well. Maybe he was glad he had been gone for so long? ...crap, that thought didn't hit him until now. Dammit, talk about a way to kill his mood. Shrugging it off to the best of his abilities, Elwyn reached for the handle on the door and pushed it open. "Temtem, I'm back!" Bruised, bloodied, dirty, and holding a suspicious bag, but back nonetheless. ★ tempest riveria ★ so why you were gone I got beat up again and it hurts :c

He was gone. It was a mixed blessing, if he had to be perfectly honest. On the one hand, Tempest was almost glad that Elwyn had not come back when he said he would. It was the first time he had gotten any actual work done in days, with an utter silence throughout the house that allowed him to work on his reports and his studies in his free time. On the other hand... well, it was so quiet. Tempest never thought he would see that as a negative, but in truth, it was mostly because he had gotten so used to Elwyn's presence. Everything seemed a little lonely without him basically stomping around the house, creating as much noise as possible. Did he miss the other man? He was not positive he could honestly say that. The call from the front door startled him, and he didn't even have time to be annoyed at the nickname as he got out of the chair and moved over. He didn't even seem to notice that he was lacking his usual coat, gloves, and neck scarf. "What happened to you?" he asked, tone somewhere between an upset school teacher and a worried parent. Immediately, he guided the other male to sit on the couch, the same place he had doctored him the first time. "I would have thought you would learn your lesson after the last time."★ elwyn summers ★ god dammit i can't take you anywhere

"I did learn my lesson last time. It's not my fault people jumped me and decided that I was a good target to beat up on. I didn't go picking any fight this time either. They started it." A drunken bar fight would only work as an excuse for so long. Despite knowing this, there was no way he would tell Tempest the truth about his situation. The last thing he wanted him to think was that he was some stupid bum who couldn't take care of his own debt. Dammit, it really was a mess he had gotten himself into. If things were like they were in the past... they weren't. For the first time in a long time, he had a place he liked and wanted to stay at. The thought of losing that because of his past drove him crazy. Work hard, make the money, pay up, and hope those guys moved on. Right now it was all he could do. "I got held up in Asgard working some other jobs when they popped up. Plus, the food was really good. One thing lead to another and I was drinking after working on the docks, and these guys were all angry about some chick attacking their friend with fire or something. I told 'em to stop plotting like idiots and just drink." Elwyn grinned wryly, feeling amused just from the memory. That was the truth, though it didn't end up with him beating up. Seriously, the guy laid his hands on the princess of Heim, she retaliated, and they were butthurt that they got hurt? Served them right. Still grinning, he wiggled his eyebrows up at the faerie. "Did you miss me? If you say you did, I'll be nice and give you your presents, Temtem."★ tempest riveria ★ but but but I wanna go to the festival toooooo

Another drunken brawl? The fact that Elwyn had been just fine without drink around him made his story lack credibility, but Tempest refused to question it. After all, it was none of his business. "I see," he said in a voice that clearly communicated that what he saw was that it was a lie, but he left it at that. Instead, the first aid kit and water were gathered again and Tempest removed Elwyn's clothing from the waist up again, prepared to pointedly ignore any lewd remarks or leering glances. "Your absence was very noticeable," he said, leaving the statement at that and letting Elwyn think what he would of that. After all, he was not so childish that he would be bribed with presents to spout falsehoods (because they would be falsehoods, certainly). Sponging off the dried blood, dirt, and sea salt would be a more painful experience than the last time he had doctored Elwyn, but he would simply have to deal with it. At least he would make sure he was bandaged better, and with some poultice to help it heal on top of that. "Did you do these bandages yourself? They are doing nothing but collecting dirt to hold against your wounds, you know."★ elwyn summers ★ can you go there without breaking anything >c

Drats, he didn't say he missed him. 'Your absence was very noticeable' could mean a ton of different things. It could mean he felt relieved over him being gone or he suddenly found the place quieter, or he wanted him back. Too many possibilities and not anything solid. Uuugh, that just wasn't a fair response at all! "I'm not good with bandaging myself. This kept me from bleeding, so... yeah..." Surprisingly, there were no lewd comments to ignore, or long stares, or anything like that. Elwyn behaved perfectly normal (albeit with a few winces) as Tempest took care of him, looking lost in thought. "Asgard's pretty cool. There were merfolk on the beach talking to some people and a lot of groups playing around. I can see the charm of it. The school is hiring a teacher, so I was thinking that it might not be a bad..." He trailed off and shook his head slightly. "Meridell's nice too. The air out here feels cleaner and less stifling. I really liked knowing I had a place to come back to that wasn't some cheap inn."Home. No, not home. Close enough for now. Elwyn held up the bag at last. "Here you go. I didn't know what you would like. Most of the titles just sounded cool." An assortment of adventure books could be found inside the bag. Many of them were some sort of fantasy romance tale, because those were always good, and a few were futuristic tales about ships that soared among the stars. At the bottom in a box of its own was a white rosebud. "I heard about some festival coming up too. Thought it'd be nifty to go."★ tempest riveria ★ ...well, no, but things are meant to be broken!

He made sure the poultice was over all of the wounds and clean bandages were in place before he took the bag from Elwyn, eyebrows raising just slightly in surprise at the contents. Books. He had actually been relatively thoughtful, something that Tempest hadn't been positive he was capable of in the short time they had known each other. They seemed to be fiction, too, and while that wasn't his usual forte he wasn't really going to complain since books were books. "Thank y..." His voice trailed off slowly as he registered the white bud at the bottom, his eyes widening slightly. Wait, was he talking about... The Festival of Lifae? Ignoring the fact that the white flower was supposed to be given to a woman, did that mean that... but that was simply impossible. He had never gone to the festival with anyone, and... Slowly looking up, surprise written all over his features, he said, "...did... are you giving this to me as well?"★ elwyn summers ★ like tempest's brain

It was a pity that Elwyn did not know Tempest better. If he did, he would be able to find a high level of amusement and pleasure from the response that came from the dark-haired fae. He could've teased him and patted him, and definitely ran with it. With things as they were now, he had no way to tell just how strange it was for the other man to react like he did. Sure, it was a little weird for him even now, but... ah well. The future existed for all those things that people could look back on and snicker about. "Huh? Well, yeah. I thought it'd be fun for us to go. The garden is a decent trip from here, so we can get horses and work on traveling over that way. We can head out a day before the festival, stay in a town near it, and enjoy what is going on. Honestly, I'm not much of a religious person. Point still stands that if I was a goddess, I'd be pretty miffed if people ignored my celebrations."Elwyn reached up to rub the back of his neck before he rose from the couch. For now going shirtless wasn't going to hurt anything. They were both guys after all, so nothing to stress about. Then again, maybe that was what Tempest was stressing about. The leader of Meridell going to a big event with a guy would look pretty weird. "I don't know a lot about the tradition beyond two roses being involved. I know that young men are supposed to ask young women they like, but... nothing is wrong about asking a friend to go to it. It'll be fun, Temtem, I promise."★ tempest riveria ★ but that's a fun thing to break cx
