N I G H T M A R E S The Space Between Dreams and Reality Night brings with it the comforting allure of sleep. For many, this is a welcome thing. For others, especially with sudden distance and uncertainty, it can bring more doubt than ever before.
Tonight, though... tonight...
A dream. It had to be because it was impossible to wake up in such a place. For the two dreamers, the two walking the dreamscape, the first thing they would find is each other. The young woman, dressed in a flowing gown, was a sharp contrast to the young man, clothed in only a pair of black pants. Neither wore shoes, but considering the intricate tattoo on the young man's back, that would be of much lesser notice.
The sky above them threatened to open up and release heavy rain. For now it behaved, letting them take a moment to see where they were. To the east and west, cliffs towered around them. A patch of forest rested behind them. In front of them, the ruins of an old castle could be found.
"The night is still young." A soft, delicate voice could be heard from the ruins. A hooded figure in a cloak of pure white raised a lantern to shine some light on the distance between them. "You came after all."

Where was he...? Opening his eyes and finding himself standing was an odd sensation after he had been positive he was asleep. His hand flattened against his stomach as he looked down, resisting the urge to shiver. He never wore this little if he could help it, and he couldn't avoid noticing the black markings on his arms that seemed to lead to more on his back. Touching his skin lightly, he began moving, not sure where he was headed but knowing he needed to find something here... ...find something, or wake up. "Holly..." He was dreaming of his sister again, something that didn't surprise him considering that he'd been beating himself up over their last conversation. Before anything else could be said, the voice caught his attention and turned his gaze to the ruined castle. "What?" he asked with a frown, taking a few steps forward but hesitating at the edge of the ruin due to his lack of shoes. "Who are you? What are you talking about?"★ holly devanti ★ you get out of my dream

Dreams were turning into an unwelcome occurrence. Before, they would have been an escape from reality. Anymore they seemed to be like a slap in the face with guilt or any other sour emotion that decided it wanted to linger into the world that was supposed to be reserved for carefree adventures. So it wasn't a shock to see her brother standing in the dream as well. Her eyes grazed over him, noticing the designs that danced on his arms and down his back. "Fayt," she replied. She hadn't meant to, but her words sounded sad. She felt bad for what she had done, but she didn't think that her own voice could reflect the disappointment in herself out loud like that in a dream. Her mind didn't stay on her brother long, for another person took her attention. Fayt's questions were the same ones hanging on her own tongue. "And what is this place? Is it some place in Ilusia?" She added to her brother's words, starting to worry as an ominous feeling crept down her back. ★ who said this was your dream?

N I G H T M A R E S The Space Between Dreams and Reality "The questions asked will not receive answers to satisfy you. Who I am is of little importance in the long run, and yes, you are in Ilusia. What needs to be taken to heart is what I will reveal to the both of you. It has taken time to draw you both to this place, but that time is already running out."
The woman in white lowered the lantern she held in her hand. Instead of moving closer to the two siblings, she took a few steps back to increase the distance between them. When she took the first step, clouds in the sky parted enough to reveal the same eerie green moon and sky that shined on the two nights with unnatural storms.
"There have been two warnings so far of things to come. When the third arrives, there will be no more going back. No... at this point it is already too late to go back..." She trailed off briefly, a heavy sigh tearing itself from her. "But, there are things that need to be done now."
In time it would all be clear. In time, everything would fall into place.
That time was not now.
"The two of you are in grave danger. The burden placed upon you by those who came before has started to catch up. If you are not careful, not only will you two lose each other, but you will also lose everyone you care about."

When the woman spoke of danger and the clouds began to part, Fayt stepped in front of Holly just slightly. It wasn't enough to block her entirely, but the shielding gesture was obvious. No matter what had happened between them in his waking moments, and whether this was a dream or not, Holly was still his little sister and he wouldn't permit harm to come to her if he could help it. "What sort of danger?" he asked, narrowing his eyes as he straightened up. It sounded rather like the woman was threatening them, but coming right out and saying that didn't seem to be the wisest course of action. "You said that things needed to be done. What things? If they'll prevent the danger that's approaching then you can be damn certain that I'm going to do it."★ holly devanti, dreamlady ★ i posted first, that makes it my dream.

N I G H T M A R E S The Space Between Dreams and Reality "There she shines so bright and true, trapped within a world of dark blue. My love for her is without end, this life of hers I will defend. Three times three, my hate of the night. Seal it away, break free with my light."
The woman took another step back. "The things that must be done can be found within those words. In time it will become more clear, but for now... the one who guards the chained princess and the one who holds the heart of the maiden... they will be the first to fall. When they do, follow the cries of the one who screams, trace the steps of those who now sleep, and enter the darkness to face what is feared most."
Another step back. "Others will come to the call. Others who are bound to this land in different ways. They will awaken and be thrust into the unraveling chaos as well. Let them protect the land. Worry about yourselves, young ones."
A flash of lightning lit the area. The ruins were more clear with it, as was the general area around them. If they ever saw it again, it would be easy to remember.
Darkness seeped in. With that, waking came, leaving the dream fresh in the minds of the two who witnessed it together.
