personality
Though almost two hundred years of age, Fayn manages to retain quite a child-like way of thinking. He is fun-loving and highly idealistic, and overly sociable, tending to strike up conversation with passers-by. He loves people, and wants them to feel appreciated. He is particularly known for flirting with the ladies; his gestures are all in good fun, and usually he seeks only harmless banter or to let a girl feel good about herself, though despite the seemingly kind intent, he does indeed enjoy flirting for its own sake. Since meeting his soon-to-be-bride, he has at least tried to keep such antics a bit more controlled, but as flirting and attention-seeking is part of his nature, even now he has great difficulty resisting such acts.
Despite his cheerful, naive nature, Fayn is not without a slight bit of seriousness. When he has done wrong, he immediately loses his joking attitude and becomes somber, almost depressive, until what was done is righted. Furthermore, when he is dealing with serious subject matter or an emotionally-fragile individual, he tends to tread more carefully rather than take his usual humorous approach.

history
Fayn comes from a relatively large family, consisting of himself, two older twin brothers and a younger sister, all raised by their mother alone, after the death of her human husband. Though Fayn was the middle child, his two elder brothers were known for stirring up trouble endlessly, and as such it was often his duty to help his mother take care of the house and his younger sister. Because his mother was so serious all of the time, it was often his job to entertain his sister, thereby only furthering his playful attitude. And, while he was more mature than his elder brothers, even Fayn was prone to causing trouble and overall being careless. It was in one of these times that Fayn met the woman he would come to love, one hundred and twenty years ago. She had caught him both hungover and completely sleepless, and took it upon herself to help him recover. She then proceeded to chastise him for his utter idiocy before allowing him to leave -- and while he took her words to heart, it was not the last time this event would occur. The woman -- who he came to know was called Maeve -- seemed to be fated to find him during his worst states, repeating the cycle over and over.
Despite how much Fayn relied on Maeve, he himself had much to offer her as well. Though not entirely grounded in the world, Fayn was quite masterful with emotion and understanding others. Maeve held such a strong -- even frightening -- personality, but he could sense the tender kindness within. As their meetings grew more frequent, Fayn began chipping away at that exterior shell, letting her come to accept the other parts of herself -- parts that were not considered as "powerful". It was in this codependence that the two came to enjoy each others' company more; Fayn wasn't considered a child (as much), and Maeve was seen more as a woman than a fierce monstrous terrifying tyrant-creature. While their relationship remained to be on the wilder side, with her drinking every other night and him flirting with every other woman, they knew they shared a strong bond with one another. Still, what they had then was a friendship; neither party realized the truth behind their feelings.
The more they spent time together, however, the more it became quite apparent; particularly when Fayn's habit of flirting caused Maeve to grow jealous. At first, Fayn thought she simply disliked his habit, but it became quite apparent that she was in fact worried by his actions. It wasn't until he was one hundred and twenty years old -- sixty-seven years after their first meeting -- that the two finally admitted their feelings; Fayn's flirting had finally bothered Maeve to the point she couldn't take it any longer, and so the next time she caught him flirting, she forcibly removed him from the scene and none too romantically made him well aware of her feelings. Over the next fifty-three years, their romance only blossomed further, before they finally decided it was time to tie the knot. Now living together and expecting a child, the unlikely pair is due to be married, making Fayn all the more careful not to flirt in front of her, for his own health.
