HERE I SIT UPON THE INVISIBLE THRONE
"Fair enough, fair enough; call it a habit to speak on about things a little," he calmly submitted with a slight shrug. Just orders, just getting this over with such that she could return home... so that was all this mission of hers was to her, was it? Somehow, Lance wasn't surprised.
"'Quite passable,' though, hm? I suppose I'll take that as a fair compliment from a lady who's no doubt been specifically served rather high-quality meals through her life," he jested, chuckling lightly. "As to where, though, I learned in the southeast. Not the easiest task in the desert where most everything must be imported thanks to a general lack of fertile land or conditions, and even water isn't exactly the most common, but... shall we call it a certain necessity that I was to learn. Beyond that, I'd rather prefer to leave it; if you've been to or heard of that desert land, I'm sure you'll understand," he explained. The little grin didn't leave his face all the while, nor did his expression or tone change even slightly, but there still might have been something, just a slight feeling, that that was final. More than that, he would not likely say.
"Still, though, I apologize that I haven't been of more use in your search, and that you've been sent here against your will seemingly hoping to find nothing and be done with this, but I do hope you've at least been enjoying your time here in Ilusia?" he curiously asked, tilting his head slightly to the side for a moment before he picked himself back up to his feet with a slight stretch. His own bowl, naturally, he moved to tend to, though even as he left it it was practically clean; a certain talent, if one could even call it that. Otherwise he had what he needed and a bit more still; honestly speaking, it was probably around time for him to go. Now especially he had things to... examine, and at least one person to answer to the King of Thieves directly.
Though there was one small thing...
"I am curious, though... you brought up Robin Hood earlier. Might I suppose from that that you're inclined toward helping people who have rather little?" he inquired, rather genuinely curious on the matter. "It's... well... not exactly something I'm remotely used to, in all honesty, so I can hardly help but ask."

Understanding why he didn't wish to speak of the desert country came as a no brainer. Her upbringing taught her to generally look down about the race of beastmen, but that did not mean she condoned the slavery practices of Cen. If the situation changed itself, she would most definitely not wish to be owned by someone else regardless of what her race was, that was for sure. Some sympathy could be allowed for that bit of time. "I have enjoyed my time in Ilusia quite well, actually. It will be a place I miss when I return home. There are things here that Heim lacks, such as the bountiful nature all around. Everything here is fresh and alive, and most of it is artificial in Heim. Even most of the trees are a product of technology or magic instead of gifts from the earth." Did she want to return home? Of course. When she first arrived in Ilusia, she didn't know how she could ever get used to the backwater country it was. Now... well... it had ways of growing on a person. "As for the notion of Robin Hood... hm. It is just old stories I heard, that is all. I am not inclined to believe there are many people like that in the world. It is just one of the only ways I could justify a person becoming a thief, and even that is a stretch. There are too many unknown factors to include in the situation." Her cheeks puffed out just a bit. "For instance, what is the motivation? Why is it being done? Surely there is some personal gain in it all..."A twinge of pink colored her cheeks. "...but it is not right of me to think of those things at all, even if the notion is rather romantic in some rights."★ lance rayvis ★ never been to a con. also, posting first thing in the morning may make words weirder than normal OTL

HERE I SIT UPON THE INVISIBLE THRONE
"Hm... sounds curious, at the very least. Perhaps I'll have to see it for myself someday, finally temporarily leave Ilusia after spending such time here," he considered somewhat thoughtfully. No doubt there would be things to learn there, especially for one such as him... perhaps even things of use toward his end goal. But there were still things to take care of Ilusia first... only once those were complete could he feel fit to leave for even a small period of time.
Well, things for the future; such was always to be had, was it not?
Still, he couldn't help but chuckle lightly as she spoke next. 'Romantic?' He himself could hardly think so, but no doubt being that top thief himself, experiencing the climb upward, skewed his perceptions somewhat. No doubt he thought of things differently than most anyone else with how he operated.
She didn't exactly answer his actual question, granted, but such was the way of things.
"Who knows? Likely there would be but a scant few that would understand a given thief's, much less the fabled King's, motivations for going about life as they do, not least of all for how many tracks they would wish to cover that may lead any which way," he offered with a little shrug. "Perhaps it's something on a small scale, perhaps even something on a large scale... perhaps it's something for others, perhaps it's merely something for themselves. While it's true that such as thievery is a rather... underhanded means of achieving a goal, there are many such things common folk who have little to their name might resort to if they desire something enough. But rather just thievery than outright violence at least, hm? As long as one has their health, they should still be able to manage, after all," he suggested, not by any means in the way of condoning it; rather, somewhat of making the best of it.
"Whatever the case, I believe it might be about time for me to leave, though if there was anything else, whether something more you might have wanted to know or perhaps even anything about myself, you can feel free to ask while I'm still here; naturally, I'd be more than happy to try and aid the Princess of Heim," he offered.

The self-titled King of Thieves returned to be a point of conversation. Lycoris bit back a quick comment, knowing how rude and ridiculous it would sound at the moment after what she just said prior to that. Though, if she felt like being a bit more honest, it did interest her to know what sort of man that fabled figure was, and how much surprise she would feel if she learned she currently shared a room with him. "No, there is nothing else..." The princess trailed off, looking thoughtful for another moment, before managing a tiny smile. "...but I do genuinely thank you for your help and hope that you have a good day."The thought dawned on her quick enough that it caused her to jolt a bit. She regretted the action, immediately feeling a rush of pain to her ankle. Best to be more mindful of that in the near future. "My bodyguard, Adell Windsor, has gone to Volos. If you are free and would like to take on a small job, can you seek him out and tell him that once he has finished, we will meet back in Asgard? Originally that was not the plan, but I would like to return there before we leave for good." She fished out a small pouch of gold coins and offered it out. "He has brown hair, brown eyes, is of average height and weight, and will respond quickly to his name."★ lance rayvis ★ there we go c: if you wanna wrap this up in the next post, be my guest

HERE I SIT UPON THE INVISIBLE THRONE
"Very well, Lady Princess. I do apologize again for not being of more use, but there's still only so much a wanderer like myself knows... ah, and do be careful about that ankle, of course. Even if you have it specifically tended to, you may wish to stay mostly off of it for a day or two," he warned, otherwise offering a light bow before kneeling down to retrieve his cloak, which would probably have to be replaced or mended at some point. Missing around half an arm after he'd used the rest for a makeshift bandage, after all.
"And as it happens, I have a residence in Volos that I should likely be returning to soon enough, so I'll likely come upon your bodyguard and be able to pass your message. Never mind about paying me, though, it would feel... awkward, considering my past, and I get by well enough by my odd jobs, but thank you all the same," he added with a light smile, glancing down to the offered pouch of gold for the slightest moment. Let it not be said that the King of Thieves was a pure well of greed as some would rush to believe; he had his own intentions, and there was a time and place for everything. Now, he rather preferred to leave the Princess with this sort of impression, one who would rather give than take. It just felt... fitting that way, somehow.
"Ah, and... just a casual word of advice, but myths and legends frequently have bases in honest fact. I'd dare say the fabled swords of the hero said to be left in Garmon Cave, and even such as the King of Thieves, are not so mythical as you might have yourself believe," he offered, before calmly making his way out with a little wave goodbye.
If only she knew how much the latter point was true, but then, anyone would likely be willing to give up quite a bit to be able to attach a face to the whispered title.
