"Auuuugh, why do I have to do this?" For the hundredth time that day, an annoyed sigh escaped Elwyn Summer's lips as he stumbled forward with the heavy bundle behind him. Sure, he had a wagon to make things a bit easier, but damn it was still heavy and he could think of a million things he would rather be doing that didn't involve hauling heavy stuff through the mud. Spring rain did terrible things to the ground. Oh, sure, it might help it out with plants and shit... still a big imposition for him. He let out a loud puffing sound and released the handles of the cart. "Man, give me a break. This works is the worst form of unusual punishment."If he had to admit, it was perfectly fair that he found himself in this mess since he agreed to do the job in the first place. One of the people in Meridell needed help gathering herbs, picking up a shipment of goods from the docks, and chopping wood. He, being the amazing and compassionate person he did, went for chopping wood because that gave him an excuse to walk around without his shirt on. The issue with chopping wood? It was hard. It was a lot of work. He felt tired. He wanted to eat. Auuuugh, why did he have to pick this stupid job? He'd be home sooner if he went with anything else. Another puff sigh later, he returned to hauling the wagon. "I better get paid extra for this."★ open ★ good time to get an open thread up for elwyn >w<

"What a pretty place..." Rufus had been in this forest a number of times before when he worked with the cartographer, but there was still much for him to explore. This hobby of his, however, was slowed down due to the fact that he was now a teacher at the school in Asgard. He didn't explore much of anything but his office lately. But, he decided to go exploring while he had the long weekend on his hands. He travelled to his home village on Thursday afternoon, spent the night there at his sister's house, and traveled to the forest early in the morning. There were all sorts of places that he didn't see yet in the woods, or that might have changed since his last visit.
He walked through the trees, and along no path, when he heard what he thought was a set of wheels churning through the mud on the ground. He fastened his straw hat to his mound of red hair and adjusted the piece of grass he had in his mouth, chewing it like a cigar (Not that he had smoked a single time in his life). He listened for the direction it was coming from and followed the noise, raising his legs up over large obstructions like the roots of trees and logs, but being careful to mind where he was placing each foot. Rufus kept looking up to see if he could find the path again, and he saw some movement in between the trees. He readied his sword in case it was a coyote, but what he saw upon further inspection was a young guy with no shirt on, and he was quite close. Damn, that was some good listening I just did. He walked through the remainder of the brush and behind a tree, trying to sort of catch him off guard. He let the whisp of grass hanging from his mouth extend past the tree he was behind, so maybe the man might notice him. He didn't want to actually ambush the fellow, so when he came close he made his presence known. "Hey!" He grinned a bit and moved forward from behind the tree. He looked the man in the face and introduced himself. "I'm Rufus! Nice to meet ya!" He waved with his one hand and smiled. -------------------------------------------------------------- Tagged: Elwyn Notes: Now you are stuck with a me >:3

A man's voice coming through the trees drew Elwyn's attention over his shoulder. He relaxed his grip on the cart he so he could raise one hand and wave it towards the stranger. "Hey there. Elwyn Summers, freelancer extraordinaire." One of these days he would have to get that on a business card. It would look really cool up there with the title of 'jack of all trades' as well, wouldn't it? Aww yeah, it would be perfect. "What brings you out here, fella? I can't say I see too many people wandering around the forest aimlessly. Are you chopping wood? Hunting, maybe? Looking for herbs and flowers? Playing some sort of game?" Wandering aimlessly, while fun, tended to end up in potential disaster. He would rather not experience anything like that for quite some time if he could avoid it. The cart was enough of a disaster in his book as it well. Instead of staying still too long, he started to move again with the heavy cart behind him. The logs jostled a bit with each step. "Walk with me if you want. I've got to hurry and get back to Meridell before it gets too late or my current employer is going to break a blood vessel."Darn. What a shame that would be. Not. ★ rufus morgan ★ I don't mind that at all~
