Estel is a child altogether too eager to grow up. She is likely to begin the day full of wild, uncontrollable enthusiasm and go through activity after activity until she runs out of energy... at which point it's naptime, or bedtime, if she's managed to make it through a whole day. She despises the limits of her own body and is constantly pushing herself to run just a little further, get a little stronger, fly a little faster. She plans on being the best spellcaster in the world one day... and that day cannot come fast enough.
The problem is, she's struggling. Wind is the element she feels a strong affinity towards, but hardly anything else she tries goes exactly how she wants it to. Following a written set of instructions in a book rarely feels right for her, and she often improvises or makes mistakes. Her alchemy, not to mention her cooking, takes 'terrifying' to new levels. She memorizes lists and lists of herbs, but when she goes out to gather them, every single plant looks the same to her. She doesn't really understand what the difference is between boiling and frying and simmering. Still, with enough determination, something has to go right. Right...?

Estel was born in Avalon. She and her family moved to Meridell when she was extremely young, and she has only a few scattered memories of her ancestral home.
Estel is the younger daughter of two, but an age gap of over a hundred years between herself and her elder sister has kept the two of them from being extremely close. Having finally been deemed old enough to leave Meridell unaccompanied, Estel has been taking advantage of that as much as possible.
Her life thus far has been simple and relatively free of hardship. That is to say, any other children her age who have tried to pick on her in the past have been sufficiently traumatized and will never try to do so again.
