"Shut up, I did not say anything like that!" Kessie glared at the two seahorses floating beside her. One of them seemed to shake it's head before floating lazily in the currently, causing the mermaid to sigh and lay back on the seafloor. Her rose red eyes stared up to the surface, spring sun blazing down into the water. "I just think you two would be good together. I never said anything about you having babies-- you're far too young." Tilting her head back, she looked with disinterest at the two seahorses, who were bobbing up and down like they might have been talking. Kessie waved her hand dismissively before he gaze went back to looking up at the sun. It didn't burn her eyes under the water. In fact, it would get blocked off if she dived deep enough. In the darkest parts of the ocean, everything could go pitch black with no telling where the sun was. Kessie threw her hands up, blowing a raspberry. "But maybe I want to burn my eyes looking at the sun! You ever think about that! ... I don't even know who I'm talking to right now!" She pushed up, swimming in a circle for a second, and then sitting back down again. Taking a deep breath, she blew bubbles into the water around her, closing her eyes. Why was it so hard to find this world satisfying? It was starting to become boring, that's why. Yeah, the land world seemed much more interesting. ★ badumdum

A quiet yawn escaped the male's lips as he tilting his neck from side to side, looking for something to do. The more he thought about going up on land, the more appealing it seemed. More than anything, Atticus knew that his grandparents didn't want him to continue thinking about going up on land. They believed that it was a dangerous place, and he was much safer where they felt he belonged. But part of him knew that it couldn't be that dangerous, that horrible. Other beings lived up there, right? How bad could it be? He was positive, were he given the option of going up on land, he'd still be coming back to his home waters more often than not, but he was definitely ready to get out and do something else. When a familiar voice reaching his ears, a grin danced across the male's lips. Aquamarine eyes caught sight of bright pink hair that floated silently around the female. He had been looking for something to do, and Kessie was a good person to hang out with. She always proved to be some sort of entertainment. "What's all this talk about having babies and burning your eyes out?" he asked as he swam closer to the female and the seahorses. He glanced between the two a couple of times before focusing his full attention on Kessie. Crossing his arms over his chest, Atticus leaned back against a rock, extending his fin out for comfort. "I don't think either options sound terribly appealing, particularly burning your eyes out." ★ sounds painful

Kessie whipped her hair in the direction of the cocky, older Merman. She never had a definite thought about Atticus, as he was quick to hit on her as well as joke with her. He was good with pranks and also easy to prank, but he was frivolous of thought and didn't seem really determined to do much of anything with his life at the time other than flirt with girls and think about going to the surface. To probably flirt with more people and pick fights... But he was good with laughs, so that was a good thing. In fact, with what was going on, he was a very good distraction. And a good distraction tended to be hard to come by. "Hiya Atti!" Kessie chirped, spinning in the water to face her fellow merfolk. Her hair flowed in the gentle current that swirled around them. A flap of her tail brought her closer to him, and another twisting motion brought her back to sitting on the sand. She wrapped her arms around her tail like a being with legs would wrap their arms around their legs. It was something she had noticed when she had popped her head above the surface and copied without even thinking about it. She tilted her head from side to side. "Oh, you know. Talking to seahorses and wanting to see the sun up above the surface so I can burn my eyes. What have you been up to?" Her words were rushed, per usual, and cheerful to a point that it was overly so. But was anyone supposed to take her seriously anyway? No, not really. ★ burning eyes yaaay

Aquamarine eyes watched as Kessie sat with her arms around her fin. If he were to make a guess, he'd assume that was something she picked up from watching people on the surface. Not many people down under the water really did anything like that. There wasn't much of a need for it, and it did look a bit funny. Then again, a lot of the things Kessie chose to do looked a bit funny. "Talking to seahorses I get, but purposefully wanting to go up onto the surface just to burn your eyes out, I don't. Seems a bit strange, don't you?" he asked, grinning a bit as he stretched his arms over his head, raking his fingers through gently flowing hair. Atticus shook his head as he lowered his arms again, resting them on either side of his fin. "I haven't been up to a damn thing." The male shook his head a bit, shrugging his shoulders. His patience with being bored all the time was beginning to wear thin. His itch for wanting to go up on the surface was growing, and it was really hard trying to resist the urge to scratch it. He honestly didn't have any idea where or who to go see about wanting to go, but he would figure it out at some point. Soon, he hoped. "Hey, Kess, you want to go up to the surface really bad, too, right?" ★ lolno

"Not a damn thing? Wow, your life sounds boring. You should get out more," Kessie teased mildly, knowing full well that it was the same thing that her life was doing. Nothing. Reaching a hand out to the seahorses, one of them wrapped their tail around her pinky finger, causing a broad grin to take over her face. A lot of interesting animals liked to come up to her, but maybe that was because they were same in the aspect that they were both different. Running her free hand through her pink hair, she sighed softly to herself, bubbles floating from her lips. With Atticus's question, it just made her own dreams come flooding back to her. "I had a dream the other day that I was in a boat, standing on the deck, and looking down at the water. It didn't last more than a few minutes before I woke up, but... Yeah, I want it badly. More than I've wanted anything-- And that means getting away from you too, so there's a perk." Another teasing jab, but a bright smile immediately was used to counter the meaning. Kessie watched as the seahorse detached itself from her finger and floated gently over to its friend. The two of them stayed in place for a second and then they were off on their merry way. "I guess it would be nice to have something like that too," She gestured to the seahorses. "Though I'd worry about the girl that gets with you-- Okay, I'll stop now, hehe~"★ you poor unfortunate souls~

"Oh, shut up you little kelp brain," he laughed, reaching out with his fin to playfully slap hers. "My life isn't boring, I just don't have anything to really do today. But now I suppose I do, because your stupid face is here." Atticus grinned a bit before he leaned back, turning his attention towards the rippling water above him. Aquamarine eyes watched as the world above looked like nothing more than wet waves. The round globe that was the sun could be seen from where he sat, barely visible from beneath the water. Kessie's voice brought Atticus out of his reverie. He blinked a few times before looking back down at her as she answered his question. Another grin danced across his features as the pink haired female's playful words escaped her lips. "That's it, you little coral face." Pushing himself off from where he was sitting he swam over to Kessie, partially sitting on her. He pinned her down, a triumphant smile at his lips. Kessie was a good friend, and he enjoyed the teasing banter they shot back and forth at each other. "First of all, you're not the only one that wants that so bad. I want to go up there and see what it's like. And I'm a total gentleman, I don't have the foggiest idea what you're talking about. You don't need to worry about anything on that regard." ★ In pain, in need~ Let's just start singing Disney songs.

The thing about the water was that it aided the smaller person in most situations. Atticus pinning her down did no good in the end, for Kessie simply shimmied out from under him with the slightest of ease. Sticking her tongue out at him as she adjusted her bikini top, she retorted back, "Keep calling me little and you're not gonna like the comment I have back for you! I'm of totally average height, so hah!" She laughed brightly, wrapping her arms around herself. Shaking her head, she couldn't dare think that Atticus wanted to go to the surface more than she did. She disappeared for several weeks at one time to research and gather as much as she could, but only came back with tablets words she couldn't make out or read. She hadn't told anyone. It could have just been nothing anyway. And if anyone was going to get legs first of the two of them, it was going to be her! But then she could share with Atticus. Yeah, that worked. "Quick! First thing you'd do when you got to the surface world?" Kessie asked, bubbly and excited as ever. "I think I'd want to... see what snow is like. It never makes it to the water."★ blah blah blah, i can't remember the words~

Atticus laughed as he, too, stuck his tongue out at the pink haired female. "I'm not going to like the comment you give back?" The male laughed again, raking his fingers through his hair as he floated close to Kessie. "You may be of average height, but you're littler than me, so that's all that matters."Aquamarine eyes watched as Kessie wrapped her arms around her, a smirk playing across his features. She was so fun to fuck with. He sighed softly, leaning back against what he had been earlier. He extended his fin out once more, glancing upwards. The most he'd ever been on the surface was at the beach. Even then, he hadn't gone terribly far towards the shore. He'd so badly wanted to just swim right up there and talk with everyone, but... he couldn't deny that there was a little bit of fear there. The Fallon turned his attention back to Kessie, grinning wide at her fast-paced question. "I think I'd want to try a hamburger. I've heard people up on the surface talking about them when I peek up on the beach every now and again. I have no idea what kind of food it is, but it sounds really good." The idea of trying some kind of food he had no idea what it was did sound a bit silly, but life was all about trying out new experiences, right? Tiling his neck from side to side, he sighed once more. "Kess, have you ever just gone up to the surface of the beach before? I've gone up there a few times, and I've seen people, but I've never actually really talked to anyone." ★ (This one longing to be thinner, that one wants to get the girl. And do I help them? Yes, indeed~) Sorry for another late reply. Life's decided it wanted to be stupid.

There were advantages to being underwater. Namely, it was easy as hell to eavesdrop on conversations that really weren't any of her business. Still, this one had her interest, she couldn't deny it. Mostly because there was a lot of danger involved in this particular discussion, and she was generally totally cool with danger. ...generally. As long as beastmen weren't involved. Swimming up as silently as possible, she sped forward to collide with Atticus's back, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her chin on the top of his head before he had a chance to get away. "The hell you sayin'? You want to eat some kinda food that you've never eaten before? What if it's nasty, huh? You'd regret it."
For extra measure, she wrapped her sapphire and emerald tail around Atticus's to keep him from fleeing. "And if you've never actually met people on the surface, how the hell d'you know you wanna go up there and actually walk with 'em? 'Sides, there's beastmen up there and they're a bunch of furry assholes." For good measure, she added, "Hiya, Kes," with a bit of a grin over Atticus's head. "You'd be better at it than he would, at least."★ atticus fallon, kessie fray ★ those poor unfortunate souls, so sad, so true, they come flocking to my cauldron crying "spells, ursula, please!" and i help them! yes i do.

Atticus thought it was so much fun to mess with her-- he was easy enough to read that she could tell that. Which, really, it was fun to mess with anyone, so she couldn't blame him. However, that gave her rights to mess back and make up stories when he asked questions like that. There wasn't a hint of a pause before Kessie went into her story. "Only once... I don't even think the guy knew what I was because I kept my tail underwater. I mean, it's a pretty bright tail, but the water was dark enough that day. Anyway, he didn't seem any different than us. Just... With no tail. But he had black hair and brown eyes. It was really weird that humans have such dull colors. And he seemed to be really interested in what I was doing swimming on that day. Guess humans don't swim in Winter. Never noticed that before-- Hiya Maris!"Kessie laughed as Maris attacked, nodding her head to her comments. "Well, if Atticus finds another one like you, Maris, then there's no way that he's gonna be staying up there long! If anyone gets him flustered like a child, it's you!" She swam closer to the two and poked Atticus's cheek. "Awww, you're already starting to blush. Poor Atticus."★ blah blah blah, now i don't know what to type

The male listened as Kessie started in on her small story, explaining her little meeting and interaction with someone she'd seen that lived up on land. The colors was something that he had noticed when he'd popped up to the surface to see what was going on. The people that lived up on land did seem to have duller colors than what the merpeople were used to seeing. Suddenly jerking forward, Atticus yelped in surprise as he was not only run into, but had arms wrapped around his neck. He glanced upwards as a delicate chin rested upon the top of his head. A slender brow arched as he quickly realized that the perpetrator had been Maris. Of course it had been. She had to be on the nosiest little people he had never known in his entire life. Nevertheless, a grin played across his features as he reached a hand back to tickle her side. A laugh escaped him as he adjusted himself, positive that Maris was going to stay where she was until she decided otherwise. She had her arms and tail around him, so there really wasn't much point in trying to go somewhere else. He was trapped. "I know that I might not like it, but I still want to actually try some different things, you know. At least be able to say that I've tried and done different things. I get tired of doing and eating the same things over and over again. Gets too repetitive, and then it gets too damn boring. And, yeah, I know there's beastmen up there, Maris, but I'd risk being around them to actually be up on land. Oh, shut up you little guppy." Atticus reached around and tickled her side again. Turning his attention to Kessie, he stuck his tongue out. "You shut it, too, pinky. I am not!" he said, batting Kessie's hands away from his face. Women! Seriously. ★ Sorry this too so long to reply. Life's been craycray.
