Being raised solely to serve the needs of others can have a terrible effect on someone's self-esteem. Although Xara had practically been raised in the lap of luxury, she was always reminded that her worth as a person would always be lower than anyone else in her company simply because of her birth. She tries not to let it bother her too much, though, and her calm demeanor in the presence of others generally doesn't let anything show. While working, she appears to be a nearly model maid: Quiet, well-trained, and perpetually calm. Her actual skill in doing anything other than sewing or cleaning leaves much to be desired, but at least she looks and acts the part well enough.
Of course, keeping such appearances up for too long isn't healthy for anyone. Once she's alone with Lycoris and Adell, she eases up quite a bit and lets more of her true personality come through. Despite her upbringing, Xara is still a cheerful person at heart, and she tries to whittle away at any worries the princess and noble might have while trying to get the former to open up more. She does have a tendency to flirt every now and then just to see their reactions, but it's all in good fun. Doing nothing but her job gets boring, after all. Xara is fiercely protective of the two and sees herself as an older sister figure to them, but the self-worth issues make her wonder from time to time if they feel the same way about her.

Xara was born as the next successor in her family to serve the royal family of Heim. From an early age, she underwent rigorous training to become a maid worthy of serving them, and she read extensively about techniques to disarm opponents using nothing more than household tools and her own body. Shortly after she started, the princess was born and Ilusia was conquered not too long after that. There were whispers and murmurings among her family about just how the takeover could occur so quickly, but such matters didn't concern the girl too much.
All that mattered to her was doing her job and learning how to do it more effectively. No task was considered too difficult for her to attempt, and being a fast learner certainly helped the process along. Sewing came to her easly, and practicing what she read about combat followed fairly quickly after that despite the lack of willing subjects outside of her own family. Cooking wasn't nearly as simple for her to grasp, and she still struggles with more complex dishes and baking. Finding guinea pigs for that hasn't been nearly as difficult, but it has been quite some time since she had last tried to cook anything new for the princess.

There wasn't any point in digging up old wounds, but her view of the queen had worsened since that time. She continued to serve the family faithfully well into her adulthood, and it didn't come as much of a surprise when she was instructed to go with the princess and the noble in their investigation.
