The blonde woman stood there leaning on the counter. The shop was completely vacant, but that was typical for this time of day. It was the opening hour. Almost every day, Ciella's café was completely empty for the first hour it is open. It wasn't as if it opened too early. The sun rose several hours beforehand, yet it wasn't even midday. The people of Asgard knew that Sunny Garden Café opened at the hour that it did. Her shop was one of the most popular shops on the Black Rose Walkway. Everybody knew where it was and how it worked. Ciella couldn't help but think that the people of Asgard probably didn't see it as the 'cool thing' to go to the café at ten in the morning. Class was in session; the blonde knew she wouldn't get the student flow until at least the middle of the afternoon. Many people worked and didn't come to the store because they were busy. She'd have to wait for lunch break for those people. However, the most concerning of them all was the people that were neither students nor workers. Why weren't they showing up?
Her head rested in her palms. Her elbows were on the counter as she leaned on the counter top in waiting. Her own hands cupped her face as her index fingers tapped on her cheeks. Paradiddles were drummed out on her face even though it was not her intent to do so. She sighed staring out the window. She loved her job, she really did, but sometimes things were just so slow that she wish she could go out to do something else. For most of the day, she manned the main counter while her waiters and waitresses worked the tables. Ciella's job was to make sure that nobody was waiting for long as well as service as well as checking storage as well as making sure the food and drinks are all prepared to the best that her cooks are capable of. She sighed. Her baby blue eyes gazed out the windows to the outside world. She wished to be there more than anything right now. Work was fun when work could play. Work cannot play when work does not exist.
"Ugh, I need something to do!" the blonde said as she thumped her hand onto the table. She stood fully erect as she sighed once again. Ciella's day was just about to begin however. She heard a chime associated with the door of her café opening. "Good morning! Welcome to Helios, the Sunny Garden Café! May I be of service?" she said by instinct. "Quite the greeting you have there," a familiar voice said as a smile played at his lips. Murphy, the Thymeless General Store owner carefully shut the door behind him, the little bell chiming once more. Honey colored eyes looked around the empty cafe. Didn't seem like Ciella was getting much business herself at this particular time of day. Nearing the counter he said, "Your day going pretty slow, too?" A few customers had gone by the general store and milled around on the inside for a little while before growing bored and leaving. It wasn't too early in the morning, but a good portion of his funds were raked in during the early to mid afternoon. Aelrich was in the backroom as he usually was, so if there was someone, he was sure he'd be able to take care of them. Although, he wasn't the best with customers... Turning his attention from the empty area, Murphy looked back towards Ciella. Was it possible that she was getting prettier each time he saw her? The Rhieder cleared his throat before bringing his hand around to rub the back of his neck. No, no, if his mind went in that direction he'd only get flustered and not be able to have a conversation with Ciella. "Do you not have a single thing to do?" ★ I think a good nickname would be Miss Perky Pants.

It was quite the treat that she had been given to have the customer coming into the café to be nobody else but Murphy Rhieder, the Thymeless general store owner. The brown haired male came right up to the counter. He was smiling brightly as ever. His smile was always so warm and cheerful. It was a shame that it didn't come out more often. He always seemed so serious when she visited his shop. Maybe that was why people always meandered around in his store more than hers. Then again, people were meant to sit down and have a laugh and a drink in her café. It would be quite the strange experience if people were to come in for a drink and random conversation in a general store. Oh, well. It seemed that their stores really weren't all that comparable. That, and they seemed to rely on each other in some sense--Ciella more than Murphy. She bought a lot of her general wares from Murphy's shop since it is not too far from the Sunny Garden café. Her right hand brushed loose strands of hair behind her ear as she looked at the man before her.
"You think so, huh?" she said with a giggle. Ciella pulled out a mug from below the bar and placed it on the table. The edges of her lips curled upwards as she tilted her head slightly. Her blonde hair was in a loose bun in the back. "Look around you. You don't need me to tell you that I'm having a slow morning. But tell me, Murphy, what brings you to the sunny side of Black Rose Walkway? Don't tell me you've just come to see me?" Ciella smirked, yet at the same time, she was blushing. She could tell by the way he acted that there was something between the two of them. She was a romantic and she understood everything that stood for. She could often read a person's heart before they can read it themselves. Ciella was in luck as well, since Murphy carried that tough bad boy appearance without being a jerk or having the terrible personality of the bad boy. Instead, he was a nice guy with good looks to boot. What wasn't to like about him? Well, except for how adorably nervous he got around her.
Baby blue eyes met the honey colored eyes of her customer. She couldn't help but smile as he started to rub his neck and clear his throat. She didn't mean for it to be a chore for him to talk to her, but he just seemed to have some sort of tense reaction around her. Ciella swore she would fix that one day. They would be able to have normal conversations soon if things go according to her plans. "Well, I have you to do now," she said sliding her hands around the mug she removed earlier. "And by that I mean as a customer, I must serve you whatever it is that you wish to have. The usual?" Almost like she didn't even need his response for that question, Ciella turned around and began gathering a few things to put in Murphy's drink. If she was to fix his social awkwardness, she would need to memorize some ice breaking things about him. Drinks, habits, favorite things, and the like. The more she remembered, the better off she would be. "What of you?" the blonde spoke as she was pouring coffee into the mug on the counter. "Have you nothing to do?" Murphy laughed a bit as the sarcastic tone in Ciella's voice reached his ears. What exactly was it about mornings that made it seem so slow for businesses? Was the general consensus just not terribly interested in going shopping in the morning? In Murphy's opinion at least, it was better to shop in the mornings. That way, it was less crowded, and you could get most everything you needed done before it got too hot. That seemed like a better plan then some. Then again, not everyone was a morning person. "Well, like I said, I'm having a bit of a slow morning myself, and I thought I'd pop on over and see you. It's been a little while since we last saw each other." The shop owner smiled down at the blonde as he looked her over once more, tracing the strands of stray hair that had fallen from her bun. She always looked so nice. Unable to help it, a little bit of color dusted the man's cheeks. That is sort of what it seemed like, didn't it? He did mainly want to come and see her, but he was always so awkward about some things when it came to this particular department. Clearing his throat once more, he rubbed the back of his neck yet; this had become something of a bad habit, and a way of showing that his nerves were beginning to kick in. With his free hand, the brunette reached into his pocket. "I also wanted to bring you these." Murphy set down a small clear bag filled with cookies. "I made some of my famous butter cookies, and I remembered how much you liked them last time you had some, so I thought I'd bring you some." He smiled, somewhat awkwardly as he pushed the bag a little closer to her. He averted his gaze for a moment, unable to really look her in the eye straight on. Murphy mentally slapped himself as he secretly wished that he wasn't so awkward around pretty girls that he found attractive. Yes, it was true that he had the makings of a pretty big liking for Ceilla, he just had no way of knowing exactly how to do anything about it. "O-oh, all right. Um... that sounds great," he said with a little nod, glancing down at the mug she had gotten out earlier. With as many customers as Ciella had coming in daily, he wondered exactly how it was that she was able to keep her customers 'usuals' apart from everything else. Then again, he supposed it was the same with him, being able to remember the basic things his usuals came in to get daily. For some reason, to him, it seemed more difficult on Ciella's end. ★ awkward time go!

Ciella smiled as she looked at him. She was happy that he wanted to indeed have a drink with her. Drinks were one of the best ways to hold conversations; it was why drinks became a social item rather than just an enjoyable and necessary experience. She placed the ingredients she needed to use in Murphy's drink inside his coffee. She slid the mug over to him for him to pick up and drink. She also got out a tea cup and put some hot water inside of it. Drinks, or so she perceived, were used to keep a conversation going . It was common for an individual to request that they finish their drink before they depart, allowing the conversation or their company to remain a little while longer. Others may order another round for the people around them to keep the good times rolling. While she was the one to proffer this drink upon him, she was glad Murphy was so accepting. This way, he wouldn't be able to flee out of some petty fear of speaking to women, or some "job" he had to tend to. She wouldn't let it fly.
She crossed her arms over her chest. Both her eyes and her lips smiled as she shook her head slowly at Murphy. He was so adorable the way he always stuttered around her. He didn't have reason to. Nothing he could say or do could be seen as "wrong" to her, so he couldn't mess up their current friendship. Besides, she was the one that had the feelings for him, not the other way around. Perhaps, Ciella thought, he had a general fear of speaking to women. Nevertheless, she began to blush at what happened next. He had placed a bag on the table. Immediately, without even looking at the bag, she knew what was inside. His words gave everything away. Those amazingly delicious butter cookies of his. "Oh Murphy!" the baby blue eyed woman exclaimed. "You're so sweet! More sweet and delicious than these cookies." Ciella placed her hand on his on top of the bag. She smiled and tilted her head slightly. Giggling, she continued. "Not trying to make me fat, are you? Even so, because you're so kind, your drink is on the house! It's the least I can do."
Ciella pulled the bag across the counter top and reached inside. She broke off a very tiny piece of one of the cookies and placed it in her mouth. Ciella's baby blue eyes closed and she released a pleasure filled sigh. His cookies were absolutely delicious. She only wanted a little bit for now; if she ate too much, she wouldn't have any left by the time Murphy left. "Mmm, very delicious as always, Murphy..." The blonde sat down in a chair next to where Murphy was standing. Motioning for him to sit down as well, Ciella said, "I wonder if you're as great at some other things as you are at making cookies." Ciella grabbed a tea bag and placed it in a small cup already set on the counter. There was hot water waiting inside the cup for her to make tea. After a few moments, she lifted the cup to be in front of her face. She enjoyed watching the steam rise up from the cup. It was always interesting to her to see the patterns it made in the air.
"So tell me," she said with her mouth hidden behind her tea cup. An eyebrow cocked up as her eyes narrowed on the man before her. "Who is your current target? Y'know, girl." She always prodded him about this. It was hilarious every time to see him try to figure out what to say. He was always so nervous, he needed to lighten up! He smiled at her, wrapping his hand around the warm mug. The scent of coffee had always been a comforting one to Murphy. For as far back as he could remember, when he was a kid, he'd wake up to the smell of coffee. He couldn't remember a day where he woke up and there wasn't coffee being made. His mother never drank the stuff. She, like Ciella, seemed to prefer tea to coffee. As he grew older and started drinking the stuff, he found he really liked it. Like his father, he drinks his coffee with one cube of sugar and a fourth of a teaspoon of cream. It was just perfect that way. Slightly sweetened and cool, but still has the strong taste that it was meant to have. The excitement in Ciella's voice brought a wide smile across the man's features. Her words caused red to color his face, making its way down his neck and to his ears. He was so easily embarrassed, even by simple words such as hers. The small gift was merely a batch of butter cookies, they weren't anything special. But they were the kind that Ciella liked the best. It always made him feel joy that she was always so excited about receiving such a simple gift. Murphy shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck. "N-no, I'm not trying to make you fat. I don't think you can even get fat," he said, looking down into his coffee, seeing his embarrassed reflection. "Oh, Ciella, you don't have to do that. I can pay for my drink." However, he knew, it was fruitless. Believe it or not, it was hard to argue with Ciella. More often than not, she ended up getting her way. Golden brown eyes watched as she dipped into the bag, sampling one of the goodies. "Well, thank you," he said, feeling a bit more embarrassed now. Whether he looked like it or not, Murphy actually really liked to bake. When he wasn't at the shop, he could more than likely be found in his kitchen baking some sweet treat or another. There were even times he sold some of his treats at the shop. People seemed to like them well enough. Instantly, a dark red covered the entirety of the male's face. "Uh, well, I, um..." Murphy tripped over his words as he made his way to take the seat Ciella had indicated for him to take. He looked down into his coffee for a few minutes, watching his embarrassed reflection in the liquid distorted slightly from the movement and the steam that rose to the surface. "W-why do you always br-bring up such conversations?" The shop owner rubbed the back of his neck, so badly wanting to pull his hat over his face. He was positive that she knew the answer, or at least, he thought she knew the answer. There were no "targets". Ciella was the one that he liked the best, he just... had a really hard time expressing it. Oh, brother. ★ Sorry my reply's late. I suck.

The second his face turned pink, she knew he heard her right. He always would second guess himself to see if there was something that he heard wrong--maybe a word or two that he missed. However, she had been doing this to him for so long that there was no chance he heard it wrong this time. Murphy knew exactly what she was asking because he had heard it so often from her. In fact, Ciella thought for a moment when the last time it was that she was with him and didn't propose this question to him. The blonde shook her head. That was not important right now. His response is what mattered to her most if not just to see him stutter cutely at his innocent mind. The problem was that she really wanted to know who it was that he liked. She needed to know the kind of competition she was going to have to win over. She didn't know if there was somebody else that made his coffee better than her or made him turn as pink as she did. Maybe he was seeing somebody, but being the nice guy that he is, Murphy didn't want to let Ciella down. She wanted to know how to win.
Ciella pulled loose strands of hairs behind her ear as she held her tea in the other hand. She smiled brightly like her usual self. "Oh, you know I always ask!" she giggled with delight. It was almost false delight, but then she thought not to worry about what his answer would be. She had the confidence in her heart that she was going to be able to win him over before any other woman. "I'm just waiting for the day where you'll finally walk up to me when I ask that question and you say something like 'actually, I found somebody.' It'll be exciting for me to see you grow up." Ciella took a sip of her tea and looked past Murphy. there was really nothing to look at but the wall, but she still looked. Not looking at him made her lose herself in a moment of lament. No matter how much she convinced herself that she could win him over, there was still the underlying feeling that he had his mind set, and he wouldn't give in no matter what it was that she did to show that she loved him more than anybody else ever had.
Her head shook violently and she blinked many times as she attempted to rejoin the real world. Her eyes narrowed at him and her lips pursed. Her tea was placed back on the small plate that normally held it. Ciella grabbed his chin with her right hand. Her thumb was along the left side of his face as the rest of the fingers were on the right. Her palm was cupping the underside of his chin. With her left hand she pointed a finger at him, tapping lightly on his nose. "If you dare to put money down, I'll hunt you down and give you twice as much. You know better than that, right?" She let him go and went back to smiling. She tilted her head to the side and giggled. Picking back up her tea, she spoke again. "Though you're absolutely sweet to me for offering and for your lovely compliment. I don't believe it is true, but to hear you say such a thing means a lot to me." Ciella blew the steam off of her drink in his direction before taking a sip for herself. TAGGED: Murphy CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS AND BTN

If there was one wish he could really make, it would be to be less socially awkward in certain situations. Especially when it came to romance and the like. For as long as he could remember, he'd always had a really hard time expressing how he felt about certain things. Romance had proved to be the hardest, particularly when it was towards someone that he did like. Murphy removed his cap from his head, raking his fingers through his hair a couple of times before placing it back on his head. Glancing down, the shop owner caught a glimpse of his small reflection in his coffee. Did his face really look like that when he was embarrassed? Shifting the cup a bit, ripples circled through the coffee, distorting the image. In truth, Murphy wasn't all entirely sure what Ciella asked him for. Sure, they were friends, and it was natural for her to ask what was going on in his life. But was there some other reason behind it? Ciella was such a wonderful person, beautiful, too, there was surely no way she'd ever feel that way about him. She had to have at least a dozen suitors or so chasing after her. Murphy laughed a little bit. "See me grow up?" He watched as the female turned her attention from him to the wall. He traced the little strands of loose stray hair that curled around her face to the long eyelashes she loved to bat so much. How did Ciella feel? Did she have some sort of secret lover that she only met with in the cover of night? There were far too many questions of that sort, and all it resulted in was making him a bit sad. The shop owner's eyes widened a bit as Ciella grabbed his chin with one hand, pointing at him with the other. Murphy nodded a bit, clearing his throat as he accidentally glanced down at her chest. Turning red, he looked back into her blue eyes. Once his chin had been released, he glanced down to his coffee, steam curling upwards and disappearing. "I just thought it would be a nice thing to do," he said, blowing some steam from his beverage before taking a drink. The smooth liquid went down, a warm feeling making its way down his throat. "Well... what about you? Do you have an "targets"?" He couldn't deny, he was curious. ★ notes

There was always some slightly twisted part inside of her that made him want to counteract her more harshly than just accepting his defeat. In honesty, Ciella knew that Murphy would lose if he tried to counter her arguments, but it would be nice to see him try. She might have trained him to accept it because his protests mean very little to her. There are only a select few things that would be able to change her mind, and one of them would be something along the lines of "but I like you" or something like that. Oh well, it was a long shot for her to have pulled off. Besides, Murphy was having enough trouble thinking straight as it was. He had a few nervous ticks he did repeatedly. He would rub his neck when he gets nervous. Stuttering is almost constant for him when she is around, and his face gets pink, too. But when he gets really uneasy, Ciella noticed he likes to take off his hat and brush his hair with his hands before putting it back on. How it was a stress reliever, she would never know, but she did know that he was not comfortable at the moment.
Ciella refocused on Murphy when a particular phrase he had not heard before came to her ears. Baby blue eyes stared at the brunette before her unblinkingly. Who was it that she was interested in? This was probably the first time he had asked her such a question. Maybe he really was growing up. There was the issue of what he was wanting her to respond with, however. Was he asking her to make sure he wasn't the one she liked? Did he not have feelings for her at all and he wanted to clear thing up before they even started? Or maybe it was that he wanted to hear her say it. No, that made no sense. Since when do women reveal such things to men. It was them who must do the wooing. Besides, she was the one who was going to be in a relationship with Murphy. No other woman would be allowed in his life with the ambition of loving him. "Of course I have targets," Ciella said with a smile. She placed her tea down. She stood up and placed a hand on Murphy's shoulder. "I've had my eye on one for a while, but I am waiting for them to notice."
The blonde walked away. Her hand slid from Murphy's shoulder. It wasn't a lie. No, it was definitely the truth. She had her eye on him for a long while, but he didn't show any signs of liking her back. He brought her cookies, but considered it not to be a big deal. She had to convince him not to pay. He was nice, but he seemed almost oblivious to how he was flirting. She wasn't blocking him, at least not intentionally. Ciella stepped back behind the counter and put her elbows on the table top. Her head was placed in her hands and she sighed, looking towards the door. Nobody was coming in. It didn't even sound like people were on the streets outside. It was just her and Murphy. They were probably going to be alone for the whole morning. Yet it was just a moment where a socially awkward boy was liked by a girl, and there was nothing she could say or do to make things change. It was all on him this time around. ”So what‘s the plan, Murphy? Got anything else you needed to be here for? Or possibly something you wanted to do…” She wanted to know. Even though it would be purely platonic as an experience, it would be wonderful for the two of them to do something together. TAGGED: MURPHY CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS AND BTN
