FALLING PETALS
JUNKO ISHIBASHI SEVENTEEN SPRING N/A | HETEROSEXUAL FIVE FEET FIVE INCHES HUMAN GEMINI |
personality
Junko is a somewhat complex young woman, with oft-conflicting desires and wishes. She is, however, strong-minded and strong-willed, and is difficult to discourage once she has determined in her heart to achieve something. This can make her stubborn at times, but possessing more than a little empathy prevents her from being overly obstinate, most of the time. At her core, she is a kind-hearted and friendly sort, and loves to meet and befriend new people, despite the struggle trusting others is for her. While very able to look past someone's appearance or demeanour, she does not assume that people make the same judgements about her. She does not fear ridicule as much as she fears pity or thoughtless sympathy, though both sting in their own way.
Junko has a long memory, and is prone to hold grudges. This, combined with a tendency to bottle up her emotions, means that she tends to maintain a polite exterior until she finally explodes. She may be confident in herself and her abilities, but Junko remains quite self-conscious about her appearance, and it is no surprise that she favours long-sleeved and high-necked clothing. Socially adept, there are still a number of things that she does not handle well. Staring at her makes her immediately uncomfortable, and talk of her past tends to be avoided. What really grinds her gears, however, is being shown pity or special treatment. She is nearly a full-grown woman, and she is perfectly capable of handling herself. She isn't exactly shy or fragile, but Junko still bears scars, physical and emotional, and pain and loss are not so easily forgotten.

history
To many in Ilusia, Romuda is a strange and distant land, full of foreign customs and exotic goods. To Junko, it is home. The eldest daughter and middle child of the Ishibashi family, a household of merchants, Junko did not have a very sheltered childhood. She was exposed to many things; business deals, success, failure, and, notably, foreign influences. While far from being a natural speaker, Junko has picked up a workable understanding of Common from a relatively young age, her father keen on expanding business into Heim and other parts of Adonea. She never received a formal education on the language, instead picking up what she knows off of her father, from eavesdropping on conversations, and through pestering travellers to Romuda.
Her life, however, would not prove to be an uneventful one, or one bereft of heart-wrenching loss. An especially dry summer in her eleventh year proved to be the perfect catalyst for a house fire. Most of the Ishibashi family survived relatively unscathed, but Junko, and her younger brother, Yusuke, became pinned by a collapsed beam. Rescue eventually came, but not before the fire had claimed Yusuke's life, and had left its unmistakable mark on Junko. For nearly a year, she became extremely withdrawn and solemn, barely eating, and seldom venturing outside of her room. She blamed herself for Yusuke's death, especially since she knew that his body shielded her from much of the flames. Even after the bandages came off for good, and despite the best efforts of her family, she was in a near-catatonic state, uttering a handful of words each day. During this time, she became engrossed in reading, fiction and poetry, a passion that continues to this day. Despite fears that Junko may end up taking her own life, she eventually, and slowly, recovered. She would never be the same person again, but it seemed she had found her soul again, and her reason to live.
Still, despite having a family that came around her in her time of need, Junko wanted to leave Romuda, if only for a time. Her interest in the mainland had not subsided, and, more than that, she wanted to turn over a fresh leaf, to start with a relatively blank slate. Ilusia was chosen precisely because it was a quiet, subdued place, free from the too-familiar hustle and bustle of city and industry. Finishing off her schooling in Ilusia is her objective, but after that... well, her family's protective wishes aside, she would see what life beyond Romuda had to offer first. Maybe she would return, and help out with the family business. Or maybe she would never return for more than a visit.
