Sighing, Arianna stood out in front of the library. She stared up at the sign for a few minutes, not really wanting to go in. The last thing she really wanted to do was to work, but in order to continue on supporting herself and paying her rent, she needed to have a job. What little money she had left was what she had earned from dancing in Heim. The debt collectors took absolutely everything bit of money they had left. This was not the way Arianna wanted to live her life. Doing something involving dancing is what she really wanted to do, but there were no such places to be found in Ilusia. She had to keep telling herself that this was only a temporary thing, and once she had enough money saved up, she could actually open up a dance gallery, or something along those lines. After a few moments of just standing outside, she finally pushed the door open. Stepping inside, she looked around. It was decent sized, but certainly nothing as large as a library that could be found in Heim. The more she thought about Heim, the more she missed it. She wasn't entirely sure that she would really be getting used to Ilusia anytime soon. Brushing some hair behind her ears, Arianna's gaze finally fell on a young girl. She was the only one in here at the moment, so she had to be the one the owner had told her about. "Excuse me," she said, nearing the desk the girl was at. "Are you Junko? My name's Arianna. I spoke with the owner about working here. He gave me the job, and said that I could start right away. So, here I am." This girl, she looked awfully young to be working all by herself. Then again, she had been told that this Junko girl only worked part-time, so she would be able to work full-time. "So is there... anything you need help with?" Arianna loved to read, and she loved books, but she wasn't entirely fond of working with filthy books and boxes. Oh, the humanity. ★ Ew, work.

Hunched over an inventory book and comparing lists was not exactly Junko's idea of fun, but a job was a job, and she was grateful that the library wasn't a very physical job. Strength and stamina had never been strengths of hers, and nothing in her life had really helped to remedy that. The sound of another voice broke her out of her concentration, and she blinked a couple of times at the newcomer. "Ira-" No, not in Romuda. That was not how people were greeted in places of business. She managed a sheepish and apologetic smile after a moment, and rose to address the woman properly. "Yes, I am Junko." While she may be a bit young to be looking over a library by herself, Arianna didn't really look like the type of person who would want to become a librarian. Appearances could be deceiving, of course, but the impression was still made. But help was help, and she was not about to turn down the opportunity to get some work done. "I was told that we might be having some new workers soon. It is a pleasure to meet you, Arianna." She still had to get used to the whole first-name-by-default aspect of things, but that was something that would come in time. On the bright side, it did make everyone seem a bit more familiar and friendly. If a little too familiar and friendly, at times. But it seemed Arianna wasn't too interested in chit-chat. The library was almost empty, so, despite keeping her voice low, Junko wasn't too fussed about speaking. "As for what needs doing..." Junko bit her lip in thought, and toyed with her hair. "There are some books that are going back on the shelves." Her speech became more slow and considered, as she went beyond the stock pre-prepared phrases she had learned long ago. "We also received some books. So they will be moved, sorted and put into the... the ledger." That was what she had heard it referred to as, but she still wasn't sure what the word meant. 'The book that records all the books and who borrowed them' was a bit of a mouthful, so ledger worked. "And then put into the shelves." Junko looked down at the floor for a moment, shifting from foot to foot. It didn't take long for her to look back up at Arianna, and flash a winning smile. "So you came at a good time. Lots to do." Junko indicated a relatively non-dusty box near the door. "We can start with that one. Could you bring it here, please?" Junko leaned down to finish with the last of the cross-checking with the ledger. It was good to have all the inventory in check before new things were added. At least that much was familiar to her. ★ but they are books. tastiest work ever.

"Nice to meet you, too, Junko," Arianna said, glancing around the library once again. Although becoming a librarian wasn't her number one choice for a job, she supposed that it would just have to do for the time being. At least it didn't seem like anything terribly difficult. The woman didn't know the first thing about working in a library, but she was a fast learner, and she'd figure everything out soon enough. At least she would get a steady pay, and she'd be able to make her rent and buy things that she wanted, like food, for example. Arianna turned her attention towards the young female as he words reached her ears. A lot to do, oh goody. Sighing, she brushed some hair behind her ears, her jewelery tingling slightly as she did so. With having to get rid of so much before the move, a lot of Arianna's fine jewelry had to be given away, and she was only able to keep a bit of it. Accessory shops in Ilusia were, well, there just really weren't any. A small smile cracked from the corner of the redhead's mouth as she shifted her weight from one foot to another. She glanced down at the box that Junko had indicated, sighing quietly through her nose. Making her way towards the box, she leaned down and picked it up. There was no denying that it was heavy, and lifting heavy things really wasn't her thing. Books upon books in a single box could get very weighty. Arianna hauled it to an open area on the desk. She opened it and peered inside. Although she didn't look like it, the smell of books had always been somewhat comforting. "So what exactly are we going to do?" she asked, resting her hands on her hips. ★ Books are tasty. So sorry my reply's late, I suck, I'm sorry.

It felt a bit odd to be taking on the mentor role so early, considering that she was still new to this job herself, and Arianna was clearly older. A very distorted relationship by her standards, but, like many things, she would just have to swallow that discomfort and get on with the task at hand. Junko hesitated a moment before speaking, clearly getting her thoughts and words in order. "We have to record these books, and put them in the right place." She lifted a book out of the box, and briefly examined it. A donated box, the books were still in fairly good shape, but were obviously second-hand. Still, books were books, and no sane librarian would turn them down. "We learn the book's..." Junko's brow furrowed in thought, murmuring to herself as she attempted to sound out the word before attempting it. Why did the language here have to have so many words that were so similar in meaning? "The book's type." It wasn't great, but hopefully it would get the idea across. Examining the back and surveying the contents briefly, Junko nodded to herself. "This one's fiction, so..." The ledger was leafed through, the correct page found, and the title of the book entered in neat, if slow, handwriting. A moment was taken to check her spelling, and Junko nodded to herself. "After that,, we give the first page the library's stamp." Wouldn't do to have people think that the book lying in their desk was, in fact, theirs. The stamp was dipped in ink, then applied, quite carefully, to the book. Junko nodded to herself, satisfied. "Lastly, we put it in its proper place on the shelf." Junko smiled, hoping that her explanation was both understandable and correct. "It is not exciting work. It is not difficult work either. Are there any questions?" It was, at least, the kind of work that could be done whilst talking, as Junko was still a bit anxious to meet the people who lived here. Thus far, it had not let her down in its reputation for being a peaceful and friendly place, and she always needed more practice in the native tongue. "We will finish this before we do the other work, if that is alright." When Junko was taught how to do this, she was supervised the first few times to make sure that she wasn't doing something wrong, usually in regards to the ledger, or the book's genre. Though that may have been simply because she was still a fairly slow reader. ★ eh, it's fine, roni. things happen.

Arianna watched as Junko pulled a book from the box, examining the front and the spine to figure out what genre it fell into. For the most part, that didn't seem like it would be too terribly hard to figure out. A slender brow arched a bit as Junko started talking but stopped herself to figure out her words, or something along those lines. She seemed a bit different from the other people that she'd met that resided in Ilusia. She seemed to have a bit of an accent of sorts. Then again, Arianna herself was a foreigner, coming from Heim. She watched as the younger female leafed through the ledger, wrote down the title of the book, and stamped the page. Nothing terribly hard or difficult, it seemed, just a bit boring. In truth, though, she'd rather having a boring job than a hard one. Sighing, the redhead shifted her weight from one foot to another. Arianna shook her head. "No," she said softly, brushing some hair behind her ear. The way Junko explained everything, it all seemed pretty straightforward. Nearing the box she had picked up, she pulled out a book, looking it over. The spine was broken a bit, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with some paste, if need be. She looked the title over. "This one seems to be history," she said, opening the book to examine the pages. They, too, seemed fine. At least she could talk to Junko while they worked. That was was a plus. ★ Stillll.

It wasn't a hard task, despite the fact that Junko needed a little longer than Arianna to get the gist of any given passage or book. It was tedious and easy work, but if it were physically arduous or mentally demanding, it was unlikely that someone like her would have even been hired. She set about working through each book, arranging them in roughly-sorted piles according to genre. Once something of a rhythm had been achieved, Junko spoke up. If they were going to be working together, they might as well get to know one another. Besides, conversation was a good way to make the time go faster. "Are you new to Asgard as well, Arianna?" It was a shot in the dark, especially considering the lack of an easily-discernible accent, but it was a reasonable guess. In a slow-moving place such as this, people didn't tend to change jobs too often, and it didn't seem that Arianna was overly eager to be working in a library. She stamped the book in her hands, double-checking all of her work before setting it aside. "I am still trying to get my bearings, but it is a good place, don't you think?" To be honest, Junko had no idea what to talk about, but it seemed it was up to her to try and spark conversation. Other than the library and their gender, she wasn't really aware of any common ground, and talking about the library whilst doing a dreary task wasn't overly appealing. It wasn't that Junko was nervous, just that she was being somewhat careful. After all, she was going to have to work with this person whenever she had work, so keeping things cordial would be a definite boon. ★ stop apologizing roni, or I will start as well. also post feels kinda bleh, so sorry.

Arianna looked down at a book, thumbing through it to make sure it was in good condition before informing Junko what genre it fell under and the title. She glanced up at the girl as she handed the book to her, grabbing another. "I am," she said, flipping through slightly yellowed pages of an old book. Stray red hairs were tucked behind her ear as she ran her slender fingers over the spine, feeling for cracks or breaks. It took a moment for Arianna to answer. "It's much different from the life I used to lead," she said, turning the book over in her hands. Furrowing her brows a bit, a small pang of sadness hit her. She bit her bottom lip as she shook her head, forcing herself not think of it. "It's definitely going to take me a while to get used to this... much different life." There was no telling, really, how long it would take for her to settle in and actually call Ilusia her home. She wasn't used to the quiet life. She wasn't used to waking up the sounds of birds chirping, rather than the sound of machines rumbling in the distance. The whole process of moving was jarring and uncomfortable. She hadn't been in Ilusia too terribly long, but she couldn't help but wonder if she'd really ever enjoy where she was. With the way things were at this moment, there was no way she'd be able to get back to Heim, not for a good long while, at least. "Where are you from?" ★ I will try. It's harddd. And no worries, mine kinda sucks.

"I am from Romuda. Ilusia has been a large change for me, as well." Her life, apart from living in a dorm and getting used to unfamiliar faces, a new language and a dozen other things, was not overly different. She was still a student, and she still didn't really know what to do with her life, or even where she wanted to live it. Well, everything would come with time. Her pace of working slowed as she focused for a moment on Arianna's words. "I think it's pretty obvious that I am a foreigner, however." Appearance aside, there were also her mannerisms and accent. But, she had yet to feel as though she was being judged based on her point of origin, unlike the reception that visitors to Romuda often received. She knew that it was fairly unusual for a Romudan to go beyond their home island, but there were already a few rules to which Junko was an exception to. Didn't hurt to add a couple more. She looked down at the book before her, running a scarred finger down a page that had suffered a little water damage. The blurred ink was something of a shame, but it was still legible. Not worthy of selling, perhaps, but books were too valuable to throw away simply because a couple of the pages got damp some years ago. "I came here to study." Maybe it was a leap of faith, but Junko felt as though she could trust Arianna, at least a little. "It is good to experience life somewhere else, too. I have fond memories of Romuda as well, but, well.." Unconsciously, Junko reached up to tug at her hair, until she caught herself. She would let Arianna fill in the gaps herself, for now. "Why did you come to Ilusia, if I may ask?"★ arianna ★ all the delays.
