He had promised that they would go to the beach, and that was a promise that he intended to keep. Of course, he was also well aware that they really did need to make nice with the "esteemed guests" and the more he saw Theris, the more he liked him. And hell, he was the one arranging all of this anyway, so he could invite whoever he wanted. Somehow, he strongly doubted that the Heimites would even come in the first place. Did they know what beaches were for, other than to walk across when you were leaving a boat? He somehow doubted it. He hadn't met the newest member of the princess's company, but she and her guard dog seemed the type to view leaning back in their chair slightly as the height of relaxation. Nevertheless, he wrote two notes before heading out to the beach. One was slipped under Theris's door: "Good morning! I don't know if you're up yet, but Holly, Wynter, and I are going to spend the day at the beach. You're more than welcome to join us if you want. You won't have a hard time finding us, you should be able to see us through the back door of the hotel. If you do show up, expect to get shoved into the water because that's the kind of thing Holly does. --Fayt"
The second was slipped under Lycoris's door: "Princess: I know you were looking for things to do, so you and yours are welcome to join us at the beach if you wish. We'll have food and I'm teaching my sister how to surf. I can teach you too, if you want. It's up to you. Make sure your dashing knight leaves his shining armor behind, though, because the sand will get stuck in the joints. --Fayt Devanti"That business out of the way, he went to the kitchen and gathered up the picnic basket he had packed with green salad, sandwiches, potato salad, baked ears of corn, bread, butter, and a chocolate cake. He muttered something to the effect of , "Damn, this is heavy," before hauling it towards the staff quarters and just shouting down the hall. "Hey, Wynter, Holly! I left the ice cream and the tea in the kitchen, so you guys bring that with you!" Because being nice to his siblings was overrated. Nodding, he made his way outside and headed for a place near the shore to set up. ★ adell windsor, holly devanti, lycoris sotiris, theris lysander, wynter shea, xara raihan ★ that's a lot of tags oh god

Theris hadn't expected to be invited to the beach. He hadn't actually expected to be invited anywhere. Since he had an inn room, he considered, for a moment, if there was anything he owned that couldn't get wet. His medication was in a tightly-sealed bottle, but if there was even the slightest chance of losing it in the ocean... Theris moved the container to an interior pocket of his coat, just in case. Securing his scarf more tightly around his neck, he grabbed his hat and went - completely overdressed - to the beach. Theris stopped at the edge of the sand to take his shoes and socks off. He rolled his socks into a ball, crammed one into each shoe, and picked them up. Fayt was easy enough to spot, fortunately. Carrying one shoe in each hand, Theris made his way over. " ...good morning." ★ silly Theris you have no beach clothes

Setting down the picnic basket, Fayt straightened up and stretched his arms over his head with a dull grunt. It was a bit cool, but it would warm up in no time at all. The sky was a beautiful blue and the sun was bright already, proving that it was going to be a beautiful day. The sound of a voice behind him caught his attention and he turned his head a bit, directing a smile and a raised hand to Theris. "Good morning," he said brightly, turning to face him completely. "Sorry about the lack of warning for this. Holly, Wynter, and I were talking about spending a day out at the beach once it was warm enough. I thought, you know, the more company the better, right?"Lowering his hand, he knelt and pulled out a blanket before spreading it out and setting the basket on it. She got up early for the beach, because, after all, there was nothing better than activities on the beach. Holly scrambled around the inn, helping Fayt when he needed it and curiously watching when he invited people along. She had yet to see the Princess, who she had heard about from her brother, or her... err, servants? She wasn't sure. The idea of having someone doing her bidding sounded horrible in her mind. But, of course, she wasn't raised with that lifestyle... Holly put on her swimsuit before catching what Fayt was yelling down the hall. Ah, no, her life was with her brother and friend at the inn, carrying ice cream so they had something to eat. Holly picked up the bowl, resting it against her stomach. "Cold! Cold cold cold!" Stupid idea! The longer she held it, the colder it got. But she was already running down to the shore where Fayt was setting up. "Cold! Here! You take it!" She shoved the bowl into Fayt's arms and started rubbing her stomach to get warmth back. It didn't take too long with the warm spring sun shining down on them. A quick shake of the head and a slap to her brother's arm was given. Once that was done, she gave a smile and wave to Theris, "Morning, Theris. Lovely day for the beach, huh?"★ get beach clothes. all the beach clothes.

The call of Fayt's familiar voice rung throughout the inn, pulling him from the tasks he had been working on. Quickly he put away the old accounting books for the inn, where he had been studying up on the process, and hurried back to his room. Changing didn't take long at all. A pair of dark blue swim trunks and a white loose t-shirt was all that was needed in addition to his shoes. They looked like normal shorts enough that it was okay to go out in them, and he doubt it would matter with the three of them. Getting on his knees and reaching under the bed, he pulled out the ball they always used for beach volleyball. He tucked it under his arm, heading down the stairs into the kitchen. Seeing the bowl of ice cream gone, he assumed Holly had already taken it. The two chilled thermoses filled with two were grabbed, and he adjusted his hold on them and making them easier to carry. Hurrying out of the inn, he made sure the door didn't slam behind him as he picked up his pace to follow after Holly with his bundle in tow, a grin already spreading across his features as his feet hit the sandy beach of the coast. "Fayt, Holly!" He called out, slowing down only when he reached the blanket that had been spread out. He couldn't help but notice the reddened cold patch across Holly's stomach. Shaking his head in amusement, he turned to Theris when he spotted him. He didn't seemed dressed for the beach, though. He put the tea down on the spread, careful not to let it topple over. Straightening back up, Wynter held the ball in both hands, spinning it. "Hey, Theris. Will you be joining us?"★ adell, holly, lycoris, theris, fayt, and xara ★ fayt and wynter vs holly and theris, let's do it.

I can teach you too, if you want. It's up to you. Make sure your dashing knight leaves his shining armor behind, though, because the sand will get stuck in the joints. --Fayt DevantiNo. Oh no, no, no. Somewhere a misunderstanding happened that was just impossible and needed to be corrected immediately. That is the only reason - the only reason! - she hurriedly went through her belongings to find something that would be considered appropriate for the beach. None were near enough to the palace in Heim for her to go often and the water was most likely too cold to go swimming during this time of year anyway. Didn't people wait until summer for such things? Living so close to the ocean might be different. She didn't know enough about the temperatures in Ilusia yet to tell. Her outfit took a long time to piece together due to the feeling of being overly picky. Pink and red flowers for her hair, sunglasses in case her eyes decided the sun was too bright today, floral earrings that dangled, a colorful spaghetti strap dress that became semi-transparent around her knees, a shawl to keep her arms covered a bit, and white sandals that slipped on and off easily in case she wanted to walk barefoot. The last touch was a seashell necklace to accent everything. Adell and Xara were informed about the outing before she set on preparing herself. If they decided to come, splendid. If not, she had no intentions on pressing the issue. It would be there loss. Not that she was looking forward to a day at the beach, no. It just sounded like a good way to pass the day, that's all. So was staring at a book. This just happened to catch her interest because of the invitation. Oooh...! An issue dawned on her once she was close enough to the beach to see that other people were already gathered. How was she supposed to announce herself? Standing around until someone noticed her would be awkward. Resisting the sudden urge to fidget, she stood a little straighter and held her arms behind her back. "Hi."...did she just say 'hi'? Really? Yes, returning to her room and never leaving it sounded like a good idea. ★ adell windsor, fayt devanti, holly devanti, theris lysander, wynter shea, xara raihan ★ the beach is not a relaxing thing why are you doing this

" Thank you... for inviting me." Theris set his shoes down in the sand before bowing to Fayt. " I've never gone to the beach before. Not... as a recreational activity, at least." He turned, bowing to Holly as well with a half-smile. " Good morning, Holly." Another bow. " Good morning, Wynter." At least he was consistent. " I'm afraid I... don't own any other clothing to wear." Reluctantly, he began to unwind the scarf from around his neck. He hadn't been expecting Lycoris, but now that he thought about it, she was staying at the inn. " Good morning, Lycoris." A fourth bow to her, out of politeness rather than formality. ★ "hi"

The bowl of ice cream being shoved into his hands was something Fayt had begun preparing for the moment he heard Holly's voice declaring that the bowl was, in fact, cold. Laughing, he managed to catch it without spilling any of it, setting it down in some ice that he'd brought for this very purpose. "You're such a dork," he said with an affectionate sort of teasing in his voice. "Next time? Let's try not holding a bowl full of ice cream against a naked stomach." He shook his head, stripping off his own shirt - he had the forethought to bring his clothes and just wore his swimming trunks under his pants - and tossing it down near the blanket. Reaching forward, he greeted Wynter by way of attempting to hit the underside of the ball he was holding to send it up into the air before the tentative greeting caught his attention. Turning his gaze to Lycoris, he raised a hand, smiling. "Morning. Glad to see you got my note." So Theris knew her and addressed her by first name? Well, he had already proved he could be casual around the Royal Brat without her starting in on him, and the guard dog wasn't around, so... Turning to Holly and Wynter, he said, "Guys, this is Lycoris. You know, the guest at the inn." Looking back at Lycoris, he said, "Princess, this is Wynter and Holly." Was his form of address blatantly disrespectful? Yes, and he was fully aware of it, but his tone was nothing but friendly and he would have been surprised if she picked up on that, anyway. Holly raised an eyebrow at Theris, giving him a thoughtful expression. "Wait, you're not already in your beach clothes?" After a few serious moments, Holly shook her head and waved her hand dismissively. "Nah, it's fine. Just remind me and we'll get you some clothes when we go out again. If you want, that is. Wynter's buying, after all."After giving Theris a thumbs up, she slapped her brother again. "Pssh, you're more of a dork." Her laugh was cut off when the voice of another sounded. Holly observed the woman cautiously, knowing full well who she was. From what she could tell right off the bat, Lycoris was just another girl like herself. Her clothing seemed to be of higher quality, though, but she looked to be out of sorts there with all of them. She was really pretty, however, in a more modest way. Possibly because she had grown up around Briar for so long that it hadn't crossed her mind to be quite as subtle as Lycoris. In the end, it hardly mattered or crossed her mind too badly. "Princess Lycoris, it is a pleasure to meet you," She greeted like she normally would anyone. Despite her being royal, Holly didn't think it necessary for herself to act differently. If Lycoris traveled to the... non-royal world, then she would have to be in understanding that they wouldn't be forced to act differently. The ball in Wynter's hands didn't stay there for long. The ball slipped from his grip when Fayt had hit the underside of it, causing it to fly up. Thankfully his hands moved quick enough to grab a hold of it before it fell and avoided a potential disaster had it fallen onto the picnic blanket. Or worse, and into the ice cream. His eyes traveled slowly to the princess as she made herself known, though a more boisterous entrance was what he had expected. His lips purses into a thin line as he look her in, regarding her as Holly greeted her formally. He definitely knew who she was. How could he not? When news of her impending arrival had reached their inn, his father had ranted nonstop about the evils of Heim and those who ruled it. He had been raised on those stories as well. His father had firmly stated the only reason he agreed was because the inn could use the money to care for its regular guests, otherwise he would not have thought of entertaining Heim royalty. There hadn't been a need to stir up any more trouble with the other nation for Ilusia, not again. "Likewise." Well, it was a start. Still, he knew what he had been taught about the nation and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. Not when she had yet to prove any of what he had heard wrong, anyway. For now, thankfully, he could focus on much better things, like his friends and spending the day on the beach. "And please, before you try haggling off other people's money, perhaps you should offer some of your own." Focusing back on Holly, his amusement returned. The ball in his hands was rotated and tossed up once and caught. "Don't worry about your clothes, Theris, you can just roll up your pant legs and sleeves. You should be just fine that way. Theris could call her by her first name. Adell could if he really wanted to. On some days she might even let Xara get away with it. This pool boy from Ilusia, from the backwater town of Asgard, had no right to address her so informally. She might let him get away with just 'princess' because of her mother's presence not being around, but calling her Lycoris in front of them all like that was another story entirely. If they did not recognize her appearance, then they needed to move out from underneath the rock that she currently wanted to reside under. The issue is that he sounded so pleasant that she couldn't find it to correct him. If his tone was any different... in any case, at least Theris and the other two kept a proper level of respect. She would just have to get used to the fact the the inn keeper's younger son had a disadvantage compared to the rest. Being dropped on the head as a child did that to a person. The other issue is that it caught on. Princess Lycoris. Biting down on her tongue, she stared at Holly's hand for a long moment, almost uncertain of what to do. Offering her hand to another female to kiss hardly seem- oh, oh right. The handshake. Yes, she did remember that. Following through with her basic knowledge of it, she extended her hand and gripped Holly's, then just stared at their joined hands. Well, that certainly didn't seem very interesting. For some reason, she preferred the single word response of the black-haired man. Those pursed lips of his gave him away, but it wasn't something she cared to press. Coming from Heim to a country like this would have downsides. Dealing with obvious dislike was easier than informality. "As for... as for surfing, that is an activity done in the water, so I..." Lycoris couldn't hold back the urge to fidget again when it hit her. "I am more than content staying on the beach and watching for now. If there is a spare towel or blanket to spread out to be sat on, I would appreciate it greatly." Surfing meant going in deep enough that her feet might touch and that would not be a good thing for anyone. ★ adell windsor, fayt devanti, holly devanti, theris lysander, wynter shea, xara raihan ★ conversations can only happen when people keep their shirts on

" Oh... thank you." Was it that simple? He hadn't seen any tailors just yet, but maybe he hadn't been looking hard enough. To Wynter, " That's a good idea." He began to pile up his things on one corner of the blanket: scarf on the bottom, hat in the middle, and then coat on top, so it wouldn't blow away. He rolled the bottoms of his slacks up to his knees and then hesitated, looking at his gloved hands and covered arms. It can't be helped. He'd have to take his gloves off sooner or later. Still, he turned his back to the others when he did, crouching down to tuck the gloves safely into his exterior coat pockets before rolling up his sleeves. When he turned back, he looked a little uncertain. Both of his hands and lower arms were crisscrossed with old, pale scars. Without the coat, hat, and scarf to hide behind, he looked even more unhealthily thin than before. " Do... you three all know how to swim?" he asked, biting his lip. ★ he just wants to hide now

Fayt had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing at the Royal Brat's reaction. Okay, so maybe she did notice, by the way she looked so uncomfortable. That was just fine as far as he was concerned. If she wanted to call him on it... ...well, then she could deal with that conversation, but he wouldn't have it when Shining Armor was around, definitely. "I've been swimming since I was a little kid," Fayt said, kicking off his shoes and then removing his pants to reveal his black and white swim trunks under them. A glance was given to Theris, but not a lingering one. He was clearly afraid that they would end up staring at the scars on his arms and hands, and while Fayt couldn't deny curiosity, the last thing he would do was give him another reason to feel uncomfortable. "If you don't know how, it's a great day to learn."
A blanket was taken up and spread out next to the picnic blanket for Lycoris, motioning to it with a small bow. He could be polite when the moment called for it. With that, Fayt turned to his sister and, with a wide smile, hauled her up in his arms and ran straight for the water, aiming to fall into it with her. Holly shook Lycoris's hand, but not before noticing her notion at staying on the beach. Well, it was possible that she hadn't even been in the ocean, just in a boat. Or maybe she magically flew over the ocean to Ilusia, as she would need something quite that magnificent to be worthy of traveling-- No. That was bad. Holly shook her head and let go to turn her attention to the others on the beach. "Swimming is extremely fun! We'd be happy to teac-- Hey!" Holly laughed, struggling at first with being picked up. Any resistance found for the sudden action was immediately disposed of when she was dunked into the water. She instantly popped back up and jumped on brother to push him under the surface. "Alright, giant! You messed with the wrong midget!" Swimming a few paces away, Holly focused on the water around Fayt, using her magic to cool the water to just above freezing temperatures. She would have performed any other of her spells, but she didn't want to overdo it yet and get tired before any of the fun had started. Letting Fayt chill out was the best option first. ★ ummm no

Xara really needed to get something lighter to wear. She was already sweating by the time she reached the beach in her usual maid uniform, carrying a watermelon under one arm and an oversized parasol over the other shoulder. The latter wasn't small enough to use properly while she was walking, unfortunately, but her expression remained firm despite the obvious discomfort she was in. Spotting the princess and Theris among several other people she didn't recognize, the maid could only assume this was part of the gathering and not some sort of deranged Ilusian ritual. She couldn't risk being too careless in case it was, however, and quickened her pace while making a beeline for Lycoris. Once she was close enough to confirm that nobody was trying to kill anyone, she dipped her head into a low bow before setting the parasol down by the blanket. "My apologies for being late, milady. It took longer than expected to find these items and this place." Smiling politely as she went into a more formal curtsey, Xara glanced around at those gathered on the beach while keeping a close eye on the others. She really wasn't sure who could be a threat out here, so she couldn't afford to be too careless about any one person. "Are these our hosts for today? " As she spoke, she inched herself towards the shade provided by the parasol, desperate to get out of the sun. Some sort of lighter dress. Maybe a hat.
